Very similar, ifttt.com is definitely an inspiration (as is Yahoo! Pipes). However, we have a very different and more promising direction (we think!).

You do understand correctly, and we think this is a big challenge for us. We are trying to stay away from "technical" terms (save for the API nod in the name) but stay light on the marketing speak. I could go on and on about our plans here.

Thanks for the feedback. It was very slapdash but we hope to replace it with something more... robust soon.

I've been working with the Dropbox API (among MANY others...) for my early stage startup Snapier ( http://snapier.com/ ), and I must say it is a pleasure to work with. Very sensible and logical. I can't say that about all API's... Another e

I might add that the real value and challenge of learning to code, beyond stacks and algorithms, which are domain specific, is the ability to abstract problems and find generic solutions. IMO, that sort of skill rewires your brain in a way

Thanks for the link. I figured as much, though a more descriptive error message would have helped.

Various errors when trying to install iOS5 on my iPhone 4. I'm getting everything from error 3194 "This device is not eligible for the requested build" to a generic error 3200 "Unknown error". Coupled with some crazy Lion crashes lately, my

In my opinion, this is one thing that the Rails folks have definitely got right. Testing is very important if your project is going to be of any size or if multiple people are working on it. Testing with Django should probably be more trans

PHP is not the devil. It has some funky design decisions, but oh well. Mixing HTML, SQL and logic is the devil. The problem is that PHP makes it too easy to do (some would say it encourages it).

Interesting! What I wonder is: given how inefficient Minecraft is (in general), how can you have healthy tech margins when a single server can take up many hundreds of megs of memory (and chew through a respectable allotment of CPU time)? A

I actually cancelled my $9.99/mo membership after all this. I still really like Spotify and Facebook's new timeline. At first, I even really dug the new Spotify integration. However, I just noticed how much of my internet is tied back to Fa

I rarely see many people take into account the opportunity cost of letting a really close A/B test reach 99.99% confidence when the benefit is by definition very marginal (that's why its taking so long, right?). I mean, is it really that ba

In my opinion, this is definitely the obvious and correct move. It isn't a surprise that Netflix wanted to head towards a stream only business model, but this makes it crystal clear that Netflix is (at the moment) a premium streaming vide

This kind of rekindles an interest I had in building a web app that was at its core a data vacuum. You sent it whatever data you like, be that timestamps, integers, floats, arbitrary strings, etc... and it would let you build an intelligent

I don't think most people take issue with the fact that patents are purchasable or otherwise transferable. If I create a valid, useful (non-software) patent, I should be able to sell or license it in any way I see fit. The issue is software

I can understand Notch's position here, because really, the only thing Steam can provide Majong with is... eyeballs and distribution? Some sort of community? I don't know, but I don't think Minecraft needs any help with those.
