Obviously photoshopping services online are hardly unique, but it is a bit different. For people who want photoshop work done, it's got a pretty simple upload / describe what you want done interface. It also allows you to set your

A while back I needed a simple photoshopping job. I didn't want to bother a friend, and I wanted to offer my own price on what I'd be willing to pay for it. I couldn't find it, so I built PicDoctors. Let me know if you have q

Taglist does something similar, and it uses ':h updatetime' to toggle how often it works.

You can probably change it in /uevent.boardname.d - substitute in the board that you see. If you see uevent.goldfish.d, you can ignore that one. (It's for the emulator.) Let me know if it works for you.

It's a downvoted post. (There are a few shades of gray.) Note that you can't downvote until you have enough karma, which I believe is 500 right now. The threshold goes up as the site grows and karma becomes easier to acquire.

While this is obviously the post with the most points, I just noticed that something might be broken with this. Looking for posts with over 1000 points omits the following post with 1770 points: http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=2555349

You can use the netflix extension for chrome. Look in the chrome app store. Edit: According to rglullis, this is wrong. I have left it for context. Sorry - I had read something about it, but it appears to not be true.

You might consider adding something like this: "This meeting cost me $3.45, which I'm paying out of my own pocket. Want to donate that amount? Click the Paypal button below. Thanks! -Jeff"

I saw this at work, signed up, and uploaded a few pics. I wanted to check it out later when I had more time. By the time I got home, I had forgotten the name of the service. I checked my email to see some kind of welcome message, but I didn

For me at least, (an evil) Google could reconstruct most of my facebook information from the email alerts facebook has sent to my gmail account. This doesn't change your point, though.

Good point. It still shouldn't even be possible to deploy without some basic sanity tests. I'd put authentication very high on that list.

Better yet, basic unit tests that verify passed and failed authentication of test accounts. They should run before and after each code deploy (among other unit tests). It's very disconcerting that they don't seem to be doing this.

I don't mean to trivialize this, but "reinvent" sounds a little strong to me. This is a modification on silicon design, and a great one, but is just another notch in the miracle of Moore's law. It's more evolutionary than revolutionary. See

You are right -- it might be a win for both. It would, however, be pretty big shift in strategy for Intel. They've been the best at silicon process for a long time, and they could have chosen long ago to be a fab house for everyone. That, h

It's worth noting that, until June 2006, Intel made their own ARM processors before selling the business to Marvell. They saw the conflict of interest between their ARM lines and their forthcoming Atom lines, and threw their weight behind t

If someone has enough SO reputation (I don't), you might mention on pmg's post that casting malloc is a good idea, even though it's not necessary in C. Otherwise, should your code ever move to a C++ environment it'll be an error -- not even

Google is really doing this to get people to put this in silicon for consumer devices. VHDL/Verilog aren't tied to FPGAs at all - they work equally well for custom silicon. FPGAs aren't appropriate for high volume - they cost far too much p

There are good arguments elsewhere in this thread. I'm just pointing out a scenario I haven't seen discussed much: What if all powerful tech companies started wielding their power as an offensive weapon? Oracle wants a cut of JVM delivered

Microsoft won't package much with the OS because of the antitrust problems they had ten years ago. Linux and Apple aren't afraid to do so. Also, use ninite.com to install software to a clean install of Windows.
