Bryan, your long-winded reply basically says you always wanted a foundation? Really? Well, where were you in November?? This announcement feels like hurried back-room politics, and your reply is reinforcing that impression.

Yea, Node would have landed a lot more patches if they didn't have that pesky IE9 compatibility requirement.

What is with the sentence fragments and jittery tone in that article? It's really hard to read. It sounds like "deny deny deny" is the proven conflict technique that wins out in the end.

Why is the tone of the comments on this story so different from those of just last week? https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=8948778 One hypothesis... some of the IBM managers who were commenting on that story now realize

Things are better, yes, but there's still a long way to go. This LWN article covers one developer's ongoing frustration: https://lwn.net/Articles/629259/

It is VERY weird. However, that dropbox link is indeed on the launchpad page that robotfelix posted. If you trust the page, I suppose you can trust the dropbox link. I wonder if there's any chance it could be made to work on Homebrew

Agree 100%, none of my engineering ebooks are DRMed. For some of them, I bought the text and then immediately pirated it off thepiratebay (rip) with a clear conscience. Seriously, screw DRM.

Me too. All the engineering books I use week-to-week are PDFs in a directory on my computer. The dead tree versions (including AoE) sit on the shelf unused. Make sure to click the "I want this title to be available as an ebook"

Please don't omit the "when compared to" clause. Driving is mundane when compared to flying a fighter jet in combat. But driving is not mundane. And I don't understand why you're still saying the candy bar melting

Nobody is comparing unboiling an egg to a candy bar melting. And nobody cares whether body heat or Arizona typically melt candy bars (they do) since it's totally irrelevant to the Percy Spencer story. Please tell me you read this thre

Phantom is unreliable, barely maintained, and brutally slow. I think one of the reasons Angular has seen such remarkable adoption is because it made testing easy, quick, and idiomatic.

That's exactly my claim. Otherwise why would Percy Spencer have been carrying it there, and why would he have been surprised when it melted? Unboiling an egg is quite mundane when compared to what else you could do with egg-unboiling

We probably agree on what "isomorphism" is, but maybe not "support"? If a platform claims to support isomorphism, I expect it to render server-side with zero drama/workarounds/blog posts. Support means that pr

I missed it too. Got a link or something? Or do you mean the hint that some of the code can run server-side? That seems obvious, and is not in itself isomorphism.
