Agreed. That's why I run one-person instance of gotosocial. Works perfectly for me. I follow 30-40 people I know for many years, my client filters boosts (retweets) so I don't see outside noise. I hop on it, reply, maybe post some

They could block big instances but have no chance of blocking smaller ones due the distributed nature. But the same goes for blogs, e-mails and other forms of information exchange. The problem is none of those have global audience like Twit

I run my one-person instance with gotosocial. Yeah, the attachments are a bit PITA. I'm federating with 167 other instances, I follow sub-100 people. gotosocial: du -h | tail -1 3.8G .

I love Pandoc. I don't often write "documents for office consumption" but when I do, I just write a markdown file and spit out docx or PDF. I was congratulated more than once on how coherent my documents are in their structur

This is all well and good but I think it would be naive to think that actors that are not going to listen and/or follow social contracts of Fediverse are going to be stopped from indexing everything and selling the data to whoever. I b

Some months ago I was trying to setup a medical appointment for my dad when the robo-voice picked up I got frustrated and shouted "kurwa" (an universal swearword in Polish). The automaton responded "I understand, connecting y

I got many, too. Some of those came from Polish services, so I'm guessing it's both changes to the law but also a "new year, new ideas" type of changes. We like to start anew.

As expected, my one-person instance running on GotoSocial does not support sharing via GET params because it lacks any front-end aspects. Decentralization is hard.

If you're like me and stick all your Python programs into your system with pipx[1] be wary, running Nuitka out such env will cause you lots of pain with library discovery. I felt so dumb after reinstalling it normally. [1]: https:

I landed a once in a lifetime deal, paid about $170 for ready-to-go, everything working one. That's why I donated it, its glory needs to be shared.

128D was my dream computer when I was still a C64 user. I loved the design, integrated floppy drive, 80 columns! I finally bought it few years ago, in top condition, just to donate it to computer museum.

4. I hate having open tabs. I close everything. If something is worth reading it goes into Pocket, if it's a repo worth inspecting, I clone it into a Syncthing folder, if it's something different, like a good hint on a thing I

I hope Rolling Stones will be still around to lend their music for web95 media tour. Seeing how things are going (in rotten minds of marketing people), it's only few weeks away.

I run my systems lean and small, by choice. When I decided to try to lick Docker, just to know what's what, I was imminently shocked by the space it can gobble up. I finally got a hang of it (after adding 1TiB disposable disk) but I&#x

My only experience is with Blitz2, I'm sure my code ran on A500/1MiB, but I never put much effort in testing because I always targeted Kickstart 2.05+. If you're looking for cool BASIC for A500/A600 you can't go wit

I'd be honest, my approach is "everything is utf-8, right? And every terminal has at least 16 colors at the ready?". It does not degrade gracefully, I checked. It's more of a party trick than something reasonable, but no
