By far the hardest part of that transition (at least for me!) is going from being able to create measurable impact on the order of days to most things taking months or years to create real change. As a coder, I could get a bug report, build

I have also written a tar format extractor, which is still in use for the backup system at Fastmail: https://metacpan.org/pod/Archive::Tar::Stream It's capable of reading and writing tar files, and the big benefit

Yeah, but at this point you're not left with many other options other than sticking your finger in the air and hoping you can detect if they know how to write code.

Fastmail gave 1 month free service to about 2/3 of our customers after a major disk failure that led to about a week of downtime for them as we recovered from backups in... 2005ish I think. Long time ago - it was a pretty major hit an

Is there any data on how many people care about said promises as opposed to care about not having an actively hostile and prickly interface? Because I enjoyed tinkering with this kind of thing in my 20s, but in my 40s I just want something

The important mental change, and it's a real challenge - is to realise that your knowledge of how the system works in your head is cache rather than live data, and that you need to check the document for how to do it. So if you change

That's more for sending email. There's two APIs for sending: SMTP and JMAP. Both work completely fine, and have the same overall sending rate limits. We (Fastmail) are set up for human-to-human emails rather than bulk mailing, s

Australia is pretty good about allowing continuity once you're settled into a school if your parents move, so long as you didn't just move into the district for a few months to get into a school.
