I really like this idea. Maybe it wouldn’t work for internet chats, but for discussing complex topics as a team? Yes!

I use Django for basic sites and complex web-apps. Some sites are dead simple, with an SQLite data store, and static content served directly. Some apps are running on AWS ECS, auto scaling up to hundreds of VMs in response to bursty workloa

It wasn’t clear to me until I read their blog, that redis will remain free to use in their “community edition”, which will continue to be supported and maintained (and improved!) So we as developers don’t have to scramble to replace redis i

Gmail actually already has this feature. It’s called the “inactive account manager”, and you can use it to give other people access to your email account after a couple months of inactivity. https://support.google.com/accoun

My intuition was that scrolling would increase the y-axis maximum. (Effectively, scrolling would “zoom out”) And that scrolling horizontally would pan me through the content. Browsing on mobile, I should clarify. But I’ll add that I also go

Yea my guess would be elevenlabs, which just recently announced this exact featureset.

Do you mean $50/month? Or maybe $5/day? I’m reading: > Ampere A1 compute… with cores billed at $0.01 per OCPU-hour and memory billed at $0.0015 per GB-hour in all regions. So for 6 cores and 32gb memory I’m calculating $78.84 p

In Canada (and likely elsewhere), there were a number of restrictions which were tied to hospital capacity. As the number of available ICU beds dropped: more restrictions were put in place, and vice versa. A lot of emphasis was placed on p

I expect $38k is enough to set up a proper trust to run indefinitely. I would assume that any company offering this sort of approach would have a trust set up to ensure it can keep its promise. (Ex: invest in S&P and draw off 3% each ye

I was thinking about this, too. Or how, often we write our personas by defining what they are , when we ought to also define what they are not . Ex: John is a c-level exec. He wants to feel like he has all the information at his fingertip

How will you combat plagiarism? I wouldn’t want to see someone else profiting off my content. I’m guessing you’d place a hold on any payout, until you’ve reviewed their content? But I’m thinking about the claims / reporting process.

Docker swarm is a great option too, for production environments. It’s like the production-ready big brother to docker-compose (with better health checks and deployment rollout options). And it has much less of a learning curve than k8s.

I agree that in most cases this will amount to premature optimisation. Most django sites will forever remain small, and there's a lot of benefit to a simple, intuitive (if inefficient) ORM. Namely; that's it's easy for a jr d

I just really want a way to pause JavaScript. Or dial down its CPU access. So many times a page has an infinite paint loop that sucks 100% of a cpu core, and I with I could just… turn the dial down a bit to save the battery. Here’s hoping t

I recently started getting some slight audio interference when there's activity on my network card. It's like a sixth sense into the packets flowing over the wire. I can hear how a video stream buffers, or how network-heavy a load

I’ve definitely added ‘digitalocean’ to a search when I wasn’t finding documentation I loved. “MySQL replication setup”? Nope. “MySQL replication setup digitalocean”? Ahh that’s better.

Yes. The term “Affordable housing” is used in such different contexts, that it holds little meaning. But I just want us to be building condos and simple homes geared that middle income families can afford at 30% of their annual income.

I'd like to save on the currency conversion fees. I have a number of US clients paying me in USD, so I already have USD accounts to receive and store that income. It feels a bit wasteful to convert those dollars to CAD (and incur a ~1.
