I'll be hard on HN here. The more generic discussion is barely relevant to the article. It's a prime example of people seeing an article title as a chance to say something they've already been thinking rather than a chance to

Was that the hypothesis, or just the marketing? Obviously real names make it easier to integrate marketing data from disparate sources.

Like everyone who has an account on HN, I'm aware that there are companies acquired by Google that no longer exist. But some -- Android, youtube, Nest, etc. -- still exist. What makes you think Fitbit will fall in the former category?

See the section "Don't have a mobile device available?" on https://www.fitbit.com/setup for desktop apps. Some functions, like sleep tracking, are too computationally intensive to do on a wrist computer.

Here is the most important paragraph in the article. Can anyone confirm or refute the part about Parler's TOS and moderation? It is true that one can find postings on Parler that explicitly advocate violence or are otherwise grotesque

That would be terrifying, but a squad of trained humans is still more terrifying. If you're worried about what a military is going to do, robots are mostly a distraction.

It sounds like you're saying that since we can trust teenagers to get themselves home from school at all, it follows that we can also trust teenagers to get themselves to school from home on time. I don't think this logic works fo

I'm very new to Termux and recently installed the Google Play version. If I install the F-Droid version will it have access to all storage, such that I could edit Dropbox files in emacs and have them automatically sync?

I don't know about 2021, but at some point we'll see fewer deaths. Lots of people who would otherwise have died in that future year are dying this year.

We can expect the per-capita death rate to jump around by at most 1.2%, based on data since 1950. https://www.macrotrends.net/countries/USA/united-states/deat...
