It could be intentional because the systems are too compromised, and they had to just shut it all down. Where DNS is the safest and best place to enact a kill switch.

I think a lot of companies hopped on the "data science" bandwagon when they were really looking for data monkeys. A great data scientist may have more questions than answers, challenging assumptions and sharpening domain knowledge

It's noted in the article, they're not forcing them out by direct competition. Rather, their squeezing their competitors profit margins and forcing competitors' prices up, but charging more prohibitive prices for content.

It's not wrong to build whatever you want for yourself. But if you have external users on your site sending data to your site, you have a responsibility to not treat your users' data as meaningless.

There's no cert because there's no need for one in the first place. Mentioning that is pretty silly - it's obvious that there's nothing wrong with a static site with now cert, and no one is arguing against that.
