When my neighbor's house fails and causes damage to my property, I'm not legally "responsible" but I still have to deal with a whole lot of negatives. Hence the "or deal with it" part of OP's statement. Fa

You are very lucky. I don't think my urgent care even has an MD in the building anymore. Anything more than a cold or obvious case gets a "nothing we can do" and follow-up with your doctor. Anything mysterious but potentially

This person has an argument but confuses so many basic terms that it gets lost. Revenues are not profits and profits don't include expenses. I'd be happy to read a cleaned up version but right now it's just a confusing mess.

Considering 30 is pretty much the lower bound for becoming a physician, that stat sounds a little bit like "40% of employee absences happen on Mondays and Fridays". Alarmist and of zero value.

I wouldn't trust any MD that couldn't manage a C- in all of those subjects.

While we’re at it, could we get at least one late night/overnight Amtrak Cascades train? I’d go to a lot more Mariners or Kraken games if it didn’t mean choosing between the hassle of driving and parking or needing a hotel room after t

I do the same as you. I used to attempt to track cash spending but I found that if I wasn't tracking it within 24 hours of it being spent, I probably wasn't categorizing it correctly anyway. Since my cash expenditures represent we

The new show was nothing like the old Daily Show. At least the couple of episodes that I saw of it.

Much like an EV can't be the only vehicle in most US households quite yet, we can still make a lot of progress in reducing pollution (noise and particulates) by getting rid of gas powered equipment where it makes sense. Cutting down a

I really wanted to test this idea last weekend at a crowded festival in a town center. I had been waiting for a spot since parking was basically impossible to find. As I was halfway into the spot, a woman ran up and placed herself an inch f

What a great way to be sure the power has been restored. I suppose the power being restored at 3am would suck but in most cases I would want the lights to all come back on after an outage.

My stairway/upstairs lights are on a 4-way switch. I’ve never researched it but presumably one could build out a 5-way or 6-way switch by adding more switches wired the “middle” way. I’m sure there’s a term for the two wire switch in t

This thread got me researching locks and I think the Lockly is promising. With the current models you can buy the WiFi module for $80. The Pro model costs $50 more than the base one and includes the module but you should be able to add just

I put a bunch of smart light switches in my house about 5 years ago. Two of them have failed in the past year and I reverted them back to dumb switches. I'll probably do the same as they continue to fail over time. I found I rarely use

When my teen would be up in his room with headphones on, I would flash the bedroom lights remotely from downstairs. That was his cue to come downstairs for dinner or so we could figure out our weekly schedule or whatever.

Have you looked at smart plugs? I have a few lamps in my home plugged into them and the automation works fine. I have a couple spares I store with the Xmas stuff so that the lights can be automated once the decorations are up. I use Kasa (T

If you have an REI membership, you can buy one online from them for the same $80/yr. They'll either mail it to you for free or you can pick it up in store within an hour if you live nearby.

Tips are completely discretionary. You are always free to tip zero. That may make you an asshole depending on local customs but I’m not aware of any place on earth where not leaving a tip will get you in legal trouble. Not paying a last min

It really should be the norm. The business collects the sales tax on behalf of the state and then submits the tax on the basis of their sales. There is no good reason they can’t price items appropriately and submit the same tax directly.

I think they mean retracting a “service charge” rather than trying to get away with paying 9 units for a 10 unit item. I’m sure you could have the service charge removed but the service would have to be awful for me to attempt it.

Or, hear me out, we could do the same as the rest of the world and post the final price on the item. There is no reason not to except the retail lobby is more powerful than a divided electorate.

Those funding levels you are talking about used to be the norm until "trickle down" become the holy grail of fiscal policy. There's no reason we couldn't return to those funding levels.
