I was cleaning my car out yesterday and found a McDs receipt from my son. He spent $17.47 on a quarter pounder meal near Seattle last summer. He did add bacon for 1.99 plus tax, but it is possible to get up around $18 for a single meal. I&#

I'd probably be more sunk. When I was first learning and playing around with PGP, I published a key. Later, I changed the key for some reason or other but no longer had a way to revoke the old one. I'm pretty any of them out there

In this case I think it is to point out the absurdity of trying to claim ownership of a condiment that has existed across multiple Asian cultures for centuries.

More than that, you can choose to go without a credit card. Insurance is mandatory for most people. Either the law requires it or a lender requires it in order to approve the loan. Insurance rates are regulated for the same reason most stat

Yes. Similar to being a young person trying to establish a credit history, if there is little to no info to go on companies will tend to assume the worst about your riskiness and charge accordingly.

A potential customers is far more likely to read a negative Google review than a log of court judgements.

The pilot is likely the only one in this list that might face some consequences prior to an incident. The rest would only come out after the lawsuits start.

It really isn't for anyone whose native language is American English. Unless you plan to quack, while singing a Mariah Carey song, and waiting to speak to customer service rep instead.

Budget/Avis is getting there. I had an absolutely horrible rental at O'Hare about five years ago. Rattles and squeaks and probably 50,000 miles overdue for an alignment. Last fall, I got an almost new Mazda SUV from Avis. I was 3

Where are the initial headlines that blamed autopilot for this crash? The assertion had two parts and these stories only reflect the latter.

Yes. This was the policy I saw when I considered renting an EV in Phoenix. We were only going to be there for 27 hours and our hotel did not have its Level 2 charger operational yet, so we opted for a gas car instead.

I have never seen a hotel with more than two EV chargers and that was a very high end spot near Seattle. Most hotels, if they have an EV charger at all, will only have one. If there are 100 guests you'd better hope they are all petrol-

From Hertz perspective, that car is now out of commission for half a day. Car rental companies rely on getting cars back on the road as quickly as possible once a rental period ends. A fleet that is parked, charging or waiting to be charged

The other benefit the Delta AmEx (and I presume other AmEx cards) gives are the various merchant discounts. In the past year I've gotten statement credits totaling about $600 by using the card to pay for various streaming services, sho

I can only speak for me, but if I have to do that much mental math to figure out the best options to pay or see a bunch of random (to me) fees and adjustments at checkout, I'm leaving and going somewhere else. It feels scammy even if y

There is a reason every concert and sports venue near me has gone cashless. It's not because they enjoy giving away 2-3% of their revenues but rather those places aren't active every evening and tend to turn over employees quickly

It's also 4 years later. Even if inflation had stuck to the 2% levels we had prior to COVID, we would expect prices to be almost 10% higher today just due to baseline inflation.

The suburban version of this phenomenon is the self-storage place. Build cheap steel structure(s) that can generate a little income now while holding land that will presumably be more valuable in the future.

Good thing that farm near my subdivision growing up never smelled. That would have been awful. Hint: It did smell. Every spring and a few other times each summer.

I had the same setup growing up. Lived about 3 miles from school but was one of the first stops on a 45 minute bus route through largely rural areas. I got a lot of reading done. Your kid won't be harmed by sitting on a bus every day.

My kid's middle school had a small lot for staff and about a dozen additional spaces. Overflow parking was on the street. Zero need for a giant parking lot. If grandma can't walk the two blocks, then drop her off closer. Everyone

I think a lot of drivers view speeding and extending yellow lights as a bit of a cat and mouse game. As Carlin once said “Cop didn’t see it? I didn’t do it.” Red light and speed cameras give police too much advantage in this “game” so they

The trouble with this plan is that downtown land is more expensive than rural land. The land area you need to efficiently build the check-in facilities will be similar whether you put it on site or away from the airport. So you'd spend

Paine Field would seem to make the most sense but there really isn't much room to expand it. It can probably help in the short/medium term while a new, from scratch airport is built elsewhere.
