It's all doom and gloom in the news. Best thing you can do for yourself is to stay off the news.

Presumably it's at least enough to keep the legal team gainfully employed.

Thanks for publishing it! It takes a lot of courage to go against the "who's hot in the valley" zeitgeist. Also, CoderPad was life changing when we started using it at Airbnb. It made phone interviews so much more effective,

From seeing this guy's (Allred's) tweets pop up on twitter a few time, I always got the feeling that he was a scammer or con artist. This article provides a lot of evidence that seems to confirm my hunch. I've seen people hav

Maybe I'm missing something here, but it sounds like they aren't putting any skin in the game. The VC will benefit from all of the upside while literally taking none of the risk. How could this possibly be good for entrepreneurs?

FWIW the profile of the OP says "Growth marketing by day, hacker at night".

Is this a "growth marketing" campaign for substack? I counted 11 references to substack. I'd just like to know when I'm being manipulated.

+1 to taking walks. Having a dog makes this really easy, because you have to take them out 3-4 times/day. Or at least, you really should .

Fastmail for mail, and I use git for most document-type storage. If I absolutely need a spreadsheet, I just use Apple's Numbers which is mostly crap, but good enough.

I, too, was a fan of Google Photos in the early days. But I've decided that privacy is more important than the convenience of its syncing feature. You never know how that data might come back and bite you in the future. I have an iPhon

The usual argument for using "cloud" over managing your own files/data is that it's very hard to safely manage your own data without making mistakes (data loss, etc). However, this is an example of how companies like Goo

To the contrary, the fact that open source software is more successful now than it has ever been suggests the system is working well.

That's only true if you're spamming people a lot. Running your own postfix server is trivial, and you'll have a fine reputation so long as you aren't sending marketing BS.

Would love see this expanded to include most of the city. Manhattan too. I don't think people need to drive around cities in cars, perhaps with some exceptions (like people with disabilities). Roads are a huge waste of real estate, and

Yep, I rarely read the articles, and mostly come for the comments. I'm especially unlikely to click the link when it comes from known clickbait factories.

There's a film adaptation of this (true) story, called Hachi[1]. Worth a watch if you like dogs. I think they actually used a Shiba for most of the puppy scenes, and the adult dog was an Akita. I've got a 2 y/o Shiba Inu, and

There's been an explosion of new DBs, but I haven't found anything that really beats Postgres or MariaDB for most workloads. The main advantages of these battle tested DBs is that they're easy to operate, well understood, ful
