Be famous, rich, powerful, or all of the above? Snark aside, I've occasionally exchanged brief emails with folks at newspapers -- an op/ed writer who wrote a particular column I liked, for example. With enough persistence, I think I could g

One thing that's still missing (or at least well buried) in the mobile version of maps.google.com on iOS is Street View.

But where is the new Google Voice Search for iOS app? The new Search app was supposed to rival Siri. The big tech press splash was weeks ago and claimed it would be out in days! Is Apple embargoing it like they held back the Google Voice f

Once the app is already running and visible in the taskbar, you can right-click the icon in the taskbar, and click the link with the same name as the app (e.g. for Google Chrome, the link I'm talking about says "Google Chrome"). This will o

I totally agree with this. Each new app that I install prompts a new hunt through the Programs part of the Start menu for where the app might have stashed its icons -- would they be in a new folder with the same name as the app? In a folder

If it's like the Philippines, all the SIM does is get you on the network, but with only a SIM card you can't call, text, or anything. Then you purchase a prepaid card from a convenience store or anywhere with call minutes, text messages, an

The news aggregators use this ambiguity to their advantage -- plenty of times I've seen a innocuous headline shown with a bikini girl thumbnail because that image was a sidebar gallery preview on the source page (or sometimes even an ad!).

The UI is very cool! The Google Maps window loads very quickly when hovering over various show times. I immediately understood how this app could be useful. I also like the big high-res trailers. Using Firefox 10 on my Windows 7 desktop mac
