Then why compile to JS? And what happens when the client performs any actions, e.g clicks a button that should send an outgoing request either from the client or from the server?

I went over the docs and couldn’t find anything about state management and client/server actions. I’m guessing this would be similar to LiveView? If so, I’m not sure Python will handle the concurrency as well as Elixir… Edit: I see now

Yeah, a type is really just a set (in the mathematical sense). And a set can be defined by a function to {0, 1}. I don’t know if this function has a formal name, byt you can think of it as a “is this value a member of the set?” function.

I love the idea of wireless, but in practice I always find myself reverting back to wired after a while (for keyboard and mouse, headphones is a different story). The pain of seeing wires is not as bad as the pain of having the battery run

I mean this seems like a nice proposal, but I guess I’m missing something, how does it relate to my comment?

At this point, TypeScript should just let us define types using plain imperative TS code that will execute during static analysis. Might as well. type MyType<T> = someFunc(T) Of course these functions might be typed too…

Protip: if you remove the "hidden" class name from the div containing the key word "Recents", you can see recent emojis made by others (which is both fun and disturbing)

Oh yeah, this is definitely a great observation. Once in a while FB decides I have a new interest and shoves A TON of suggested content in my face, as if it’s all I ever cared about. And it’s usually the most random things. Dragon Ball Z. G

My Facebook feed is about 40% sponsored posts, 30% suggested posts, 30% group posts (usually from very large groups), and then maybe 1% actual friends (and it’s usually just something that they’ve shared or commented on, almost never actual

I was so pissed off when I installed a fresh copy of Windows 11 on my parents' new computer. Just more and more BS thrown in your face and it never ends. It made the computer they bought almost unusable for them. I had to spend a good

Sadly I don't expect things will get better for the trafficked victims, this only lowers their "value" in the eyes of criminals. They will probably find even worse uses for them.

I think you only need to filter when your scale is very limited due to the effort involved. A human can only make so many calls per day. AI makes these attempts much cheaper.

I'm guessing that most of these scams are coming from large orgs as described in the OP/comments, this seems like a fairly expensive operation. I'm also guessing that for about the same cost they could use AI to cast a much w

I wonder if low quality scams (made by humans) are still going to be a thing given advances in AI. I bet a human sounding bot can already make a phone call and scam most of our grandparents far better than the average human scammer. Add the

This isn’t about leaking the source code. Secrets could leak through environment variables too. It actually doesn’t matter how the server got a hold of the secret. If the value is in closure for some function the client has to execute (such

You can have your cake and eat it too. You can have an API that handles all the important stuff (authn, authz, database access, 3P services...). Your mobile/desktop/CLI/smart toaster apps can speak directly to that. For the w

Server components seem like a surefire way to leak secrets to clients. Can we please go back to separating clients from servers? Or, at the very least, treat your rendering server as just another untrusted client.

I wonder if this is going to be a for-profit, private city. A city-scale hotel, sort of. I feel like this is the model for future cities (which in my opinion, is a great thing — as long as the city pays rent to the state).

Yeah, I feel like it's super pretentious to think that your solution will actually last 100,000 years into the future. If you work in tech you know that 99% of the stuff you build wouldn't (or shouldn't) last another 5 years.

I would respectfully disagree. You gotta look at this from your customers’ perspective. All they care about is that using your service means quality work for less cost. The more you talk about other things, the more they’re going to questio
