Well... yeah, kind of. I guess some parts that are missing are having a schema for the CMD part, and being able to easily generate APIs for various languages from that schema

Just some random brain dump: Why limit to ML models? Perhaps we can (should?) have some universal package hub, where you can package and push a "thing" from any language, and then pull and use it from any other language. With some

And what will these fine gentlemen do when I take out my gun and kindly refuse their offer? Better yet, what will the state do when the neighboring country, armed with F35s, decides it’s time to take their land?

I’m surprised it didn’t mention vendor lock-in, which is definitely a selling point for open source.

I would be very curious to see how a police force which has no credible threat of violence can operate. "You're going to jail" - "No" "Now you're going to jail for even longer!" - "Mak

I think you’re being naive if you think NSO isn’t related to Israeli gov (in the same manner Lockheed Martin is related to US gov). Having said that, I think you’re unjustly being downvoted. I agree that there’s often a strong bias against

I'm not downplaying cyber weapons, but I would argue that conventional weapons have caused significantly more damage to innocent people over the last few years than any exploit. Deaths in the hundreds of thousands, easily, not to men

I want to point out how odd it is that no one cares about international weapons exports, except when talking about cyber weapons. USA is the #1 arms exporter in the world, and its top 3 clients are dictators[0] (Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait)

To anyone developing libraries: please, for the love of god, just put a damn code snippet right at the top. A simple hello world would do. If you're pitching me something, show it to me. People don't have to dig around to see what

Unrelated to the article, but I gotta say I just learned about Sequin from this link, and it seems very cool! But, I can't think of a use-case for it. Can you please explain the value-add?

You’re right, but this is not what I mean by privatizing. In this scenario you described, the government has a monopoly and you as a citizen don’t get to opt-out or switch to the competition. You will pay for whatever garbage service they p

With everyone talking about LLMs being glorified autocomplete, I actually would like to see how well they perform as autocomplete. Because most built-in ones are pretty bad.

I have a messy drawer where I dump all of this stuff. It’s basically write-only, once I throw something in there I know I’ll never look for it again. For digital stuff it’s mostly the same idea. If it’s email (which is almost always the cas

iOS is the gold standard IMO. Apps are sandboxed, can only interact with the outside world via APIs (that the user needs to approve), one click uninstall and it’s all gone without a trace (at least in theory). Love it.
