This very, very cool and comprehensive! Notably missing influential artists: GMS, 1200 Micrograms, Shpongle, Infected Mushroom, Captain Hook, Ott… I probably forgot quite a few

What do you mean? This is true for any template string, not specifically the tagged template strings, no? Edit: I think I understand now from the other comment, thanks!

Can anyone explain to me the purpose of tagged template strings? From what I understand it’s only a function that takes in a string, so this might have just been sql(‘…’).

I don’t know if there’s a service that does that, but I do know big tech companies do exactly this for their accounts (user accounts, not just employees). Additionally many password managers will warn you, including the built in ones in iOS

People have been trying to watermark digital media for decades, when there was (still is) a very strong financial incentive to get it working. It never worked. I don’t think it ever will work.

We have now gone full circle back to web directories. If I remember correctly they had these "app stores" back in the 90s. https://cdn2.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_asset/file/1403968/y...

On FB I’m getting ads for drugs. It used to be subtle, now it’s just “we have the purest cocaine” with photos and everything. It seems like filtering ads in general is a difficult problem.

Perhaps the fundamental logic behind pure math is "real" in the sense that it's "found in nature" (whatever that means, I don't see how we would prove that), and we're only applying this real thing to mo

I used ChatGPT yesterday for code for the first time. I gave it a nontrivial task I couldn’t google a solution for, and wasn’t sure it was even possible: Given a python object, give me a list of functions that received this object as an arg

For the last 2-3 years, on an almost weekly basis, I am blown away by the progress made in AI. Huge steps forward. It actually happened twice in the last 24 hours alone. Where will we be 10 years from now? 50?

This is an approach I strongly believe in. For 99% of things, language performance doesn't really matter (it's usually cheaper to just scale up). So you might as well focus on developer experience and hire-ability. For the 1% wher

Just going over the docs and there’s something I don’t understand, hoping someone here can explain: What’s the point of having to explicitly call grad(jit(f))? Why doesn’t grad just call jit internally? Is there a usecase where you want the

What the hell is an "AI device"? Unless we're talking robotics, I don't see why you would need a separate device for AI. Seems like we already have all the right form factors (phones, speakers, etc). This reminds me of w
