Not just “traditional SSDs”, which are block-addressable. A byte-addressable Optane RAM would enable a database that no longer “thinks” in pages, but can independently persist much smaller pieces of its internal structures, possibly leading

Do you think it would make it better to have the tables hidden behind an API of views and stored procedures? Perhaps a small team of engineers maintaining that API would be be able to communicate effectively enough to avoid this "trage

I don’t like the term “cursor-based” pagination. Database cursors are different from this, have been around for decades, and can actually be used to implement pagination (albeit with requiring the transaction to be kept alive between pages

Wouldn't the debugger break on exception? So any exceptions used in "nonexceptional" situations have a potential to "pollute" the debugging experience? Admittedly, I haven't tried debugging React 18 yet, so I d

Not really. The basic concepts of "tables/indexes" and "access paths" has been stable for years (decades really). So if you wrote something like: MY_TABLE.MY_INDEX.SEEK(whatever), that would have the same meaning as

I used "rails lights" (the kind they often use in boutiques) and pointed them up at the ceiling (rails are mounted on walls, not the ceiling). There is almost nowhere in the apartment where you can look directly at a light source.
