Very cool. As you're thinking about unsupervised or semi-supervised deep learning, consider medical data sets as a potential domain. ImageNet has 1,034,908 labeled images. In a hospital setting, you'd be lucky to get 1000 particip

That's part of what we're trying to quantify with the mRhythm Study--both the accuracy of heart rate sensors on average, but more importantly, how to predict in which situations and for which people the sensor is likely to work ac

Any circuit through the heart is enough for (at least a single-lead) ECG. For example, the AliveCor is a hand-held mobile phone case—when your left hand and right hand are both touching it, you can get an ECG. Chest ECGs done at the hospita

Check out the CONCORD study, which compared cancer survival rates across 18 countries. The US had the highest overall survival rate (73.8%). Countries with government-run medical care, like UK and Denmark, had the lowest: 51-52.8%. The diff

Although this is an interesting result, beware, n=25 for the whole study, which means there were only eight people per group. We did a data analysis on several thousand Apple Watch users, looking at whether step count or exercise intensity

We do plan to support other devices like Fitbit and Android Wear. The reason we started with Apple Watch is that 1) the heart rate sensor is quite good, and 2) we can target millions of people with one platform (iOS / Watch OS).

Yeah! Absolutely. In healthcare we call it "patient compliance," but it's really just usability. My guess is that by the time we get to the Apple Watch or Android Wear 3 or 4, it'll include a built-in ECG sensor. There a
