I find the "and perl" part particularly dubious. Here's an excerpt: system("echo '$mydata' > /home/rhett/usernick"); system('/home/rhett/music_player.rb &'); system('/home/rhett/servos/phidgets-examples/AdvancedServo-simple

I'd negotiated licenses between $200 and $500 for their old basic offering (depending on volume). I've been punting on a switch to Postgres for the last few months, but they've forced my hand now.

Yep, decided not to continue when I got to that point. It looks like the number is a landline in the Bay Area. I wonder if some poor soul at Greplin will be taking calls all day.

I see that you specifically called out Belkin as undesirable, but I have a Belkin F4U017 on my desk plugged into my MacBook Pro charging my iPhone 4 and handling 3 other peripherals. It has been fantastic so far.

To be fair, WakeMate did collect a $5 pre-order deposit from a number of customers which was later refunded. I'm sure the money that came in this way was another vehicle towards finding investment, so I don't begrudge them at all.

The only thing that has kept me from pulling my pre-order was that I do have high hopes for the device once I eventually receive one. That's certainly not a basis upon which to recommend the device, though, and my negative experience so far

Just a note: I pre-ordered a WakeMate on November 25th, 2009 with a ship date in January. After the ship date passed, I got a "we're sorry" email which said that they tentatively planned to ship them in February. No word until March when th

I'm a fan of Confluence and JIRA from a user perspective, but oh man, they are terrible products to install and administer. For instance, we're an Atlassian shop through and through; we also use Fisheye, Crucible and Bamboo. As such, we wan

Indeed. I'm a Debian user, so it only took a minute to get the agent running which I appreciated a lot . It seems like the only piece missing is graphing and alerting on bandwidth usage with the agent. Linode provides a nice set of hypervi

The biggest problem I can see with this solution is simply that it's not an off-site backup. I haven't had any serious issues with Linode so far, but I don't want to risk losing source repositories (for example) to an event that took down t

That was true given early revisions of the agreement. If you revisit the language you'll find that the phrase "download and run" has been replaced with "download or run." That said, there was talk about moving Wax to llvm-lua such that
