Characterising what Stalin did as "open the gulag and crack the whip" really glosses over a lot of details.

Was going to come say the same. I feel like Anker is just killing it on many dimensions right now. I'm always happy with their products and they're quite innovative, too.

Right and don’t you understand that Redis has the availability guarantees, scaling constraints, and memory architecture for all use cases?! Why would you ever need a different KV store when you have Redis!

Agreed. The type of employee at big tech today is a lot different than what once was. But given the volume perhaps the output will be similar.

Interesting concept! Can kind of see it, although Zanzibar is a bit less concrete. REST really came into it's own with Rails, I think. Wonder if Aserto is Zanzibar's Rails?

Woof. What a misleading title. “Why does this thing equal this other thing in PHP land?” Is more accurate.

Airlines in general started as an object for business class and "luxury" travel (despite looking really, really not luxury today). Took almost 100 years to get to today's point of being completely accessible for everyone.

It’s a useful feature in some cases for certain stateful workloads (e.g. cloud-based workstations) but it’s almost always 100% better architecturally to develop systems that can just be thrown away and rebuilt vs needing to preserve state.

Thanks, Beej! Your guide was really influential for me when I was a young kid in the early 2000s! I was really into MUDs back then and mate a few toy engines using the things I learned in your guide as a basis! Funny thing, I learned years
