I said I was done but I have to respond to this. Reddit prides itself on tangents and bickering and jokes. It’s great. I love Reddit. But I come to HN for focused technical discussion. I don’t believe one is inherently better than the other

Well that’s good. Maybe it’ll grow on me, or maybe I’ll find the feature set just makes me not care. I just love the look of my X so this feels like a visual downgrade.

I mentioned this in another comment, but I see battery life as solved for most people. I wear my watch all day and all night with a third party sleep tracking app. I then charge it in the morning while I shower and get dressed. That is alwa

I think most probably do, but in my opinion the optimal way to use this watch is to wear all day and night and charge in the morning while you get ready. I've been doing that for 2 years with my Series 3 and I have never run out of bat

Honestly I was hoping that the leaked images were somehow very wrong. I hate the look of the back of the phone now. Who thought a rectangular module with a triangle of circular cameras would look good? It doesn't. It looks terrible.

What confuses you about what I said? “Not being reddit” and “not being elitist” are not mutually exclusive. EDIT: I think it's clear nothing more needs to be said. Feel free to respond to this comment or not. I've said my piece.

Yes, it does pride itself on the quality of discussions. It also has done that just fine using the voting and flagging mechanisms. When I see comments criticizing others' comments I am always reminded of reddit. I think this is exactly

I don't necessarily think you're wrong, but HN has a history of comments like this that criticize other comments and add nothing to the discussion. Mine is another example, but since you got the ball rolling I figure I might as we

I think it's interesting that a lot of people are complaining about SO and saying how other systems would be more effective, yet nobody is trying to create a better SO. Maybe it's actually just a much harder problem than people re

I'm as paranoid about IoT devices being abused as anyone, but can you point out more than 1 or 2 examples of "It's never true?"

This would help, but it would be nice if there was a way to somehow verify a chain of custody of media where each modification somehow added to the chain and could be independently verified. I don't really see how that could be done

I assume you're referring to building out a store with no inventory to test the market? This is a pretty common tactic spread by books such as "The 4-Hour Work Week" so it's not surprising to see it in use for a site lik

This article helped me to realize I probably should be seeking help for anxiety. I always knew I had anxious tendencies, but I didn't ever think I was just "sucking it up" until I read this. I grew up being taught that drinki

Is giving them your wife's phone simply to discourage them from calling for non-emergency situations? Because in an emergency I highly doubt it would prevent my employer from getting in contact. I do agree about unplugging, but I'

I'm sure there's a name for this effect, but I am always fascinated by the complaints about fake products on Amazon. I have _never_ received one and I spend several thousand on Amazon every year. I _know_ it must be happening, I j

I believe the problem is that with current technology it isn't realistic to expect to accelerate continuously to a fraction of light speed where time dilation will be noticeable. We lack the ability to get a large enough amount of fuel

I think this is a pretty reasonable price and I fully expect to pre-order, but I'm disappointed that the games must be purchased a la carte. I'd much rather pay a higher monthly fee and be able to play any games I wanted. I'm

I totally agree. My first thought was of the world of Snow Crash where there are districts owned by businesses and individuals that set their own systems of law and order. It was not a pleasant future.

Yes that's who I'm referring to. On my first playthrough I didn't think he was black, but after having it pointed out I think it's likely he's a reference to Yasuke. Either way, this is how I learned about it.

I learned about Yasuke from playing "Sekiro." There's a black samurai/ronin that you can interact with. I thought nothing of it, but others postulated that it might be a reference to Yasuke. I was fascinated to learn abo

It may be low-level drama to you, but clearly the author felt threatened by the couple. The spam messages, the threats to release personal information, etc. I would have no qualms with seeking legal action.

I interpreted OP to be referencing things like school, home, car, etc as luxury goods, not living in SV. I do obviously agree with the rest of your comment though.
