From what I’ve seen this is usually what happens when the parent company wants to close the service down. First they spin off the service into its own company then the company shuts down because of a lack of income. Is that what’s happening

amazon.com desktop homepage is back up for me! EDIT: Though it looks quite minimal, there's very little content showing on the front page. Three rows of content.

Honestly I prefer this system. There’s definitely some pseudo curation happening, which I like. Some interesting things I’ve picked up: - If a submission is interesting but doesn’t get picked up for whatever reason (posted at the wrong time

Looks good. I can see this being a great intermediate format for hacks etc. Alternatively you could use some kind of fluent API to write binary data. Depends on your use case of course.

I liked reading about the two forces at play here. The ideal self vs the reality of who you really are. Extreme moments such as war can cause you to learn so much more about your darker aspects. Great read.

Facebook knows us better than anyone else [1] However, this means that Facebook may know better than anyone who I would be best to date. I'm excited to see where this goes, and a little terrified. [1] https://www.nytimes.com

I'm happy to see more "social media platform X sucks" articles. More of these articles means public perception changes regarding social media platforms in general.

I’d say anywhere where the interest rates are low for an extended period of time and there’s stable work. That combo seems to blow up house prices and rents.

“Purpose” is a construct that us humans have created. As far as I know no other animal has the concept of “purpose” in the way that you’re referring to. Ultimately we attach purpose to ourselves because it feels good, or alternatively avoid

I don't believe that recruiting is a big problem. Their immediate problem is that money isn't coming in. When you don't have money coming in you're not worried about hiring more people.
