I disagree. MCP will remain the best way to do most things for the same reason REST APIs are the main way to access non local services: they provide a way to secure and audit access to systems in a way that a coding environment cannot. And

I agree with most points but as a tech enthusiast, I was using a smart phone years before the iPhone, and I could already use the internet, make video calls, email etc around 2005. It was a small flip phone but it was not uncommon for phone

So exactly 10 years ago a lot of people believed that the game Go would not be “conquered” by AI, but after just a few months it was. People will always be skeptical of new things, even people who are in tech, because many hyped things inde

Odin has dynamic arrays, dynamic hash tables and generics so imho it’s far from C and closer to D and Go, except for not having GC. It occupies the space between D/Go and C I would say.

That’s why the actor model is so good. You have concurrent programs but each Actor has full ownership of its data and can access it as if it were single threaded. In my opinion, it’s the only way to get it right and should only be replaced

The 1990s internet was definitely not more liberal! 4chan style forums were probably the rule. I can’t believe someone would say that, clearly you didn’t use the same internet that I did.

What ?? It’s exactly the opposite of that! Memory allocation on demand frees users from having to worry about configuring memory settings, which static allocation requires except if you overallocate, which is problematic if lots of applicat

That’s what I am saying: this is just utter bullshit that almost every other study disproves, as well as a quick check of the reality around the world! Hence why I suggested to read more on the topic. Notice that the sentence you wrote says

Great question! But no, they are not the same, despite some similarities. In Unison, effects are called abilities, and they wrote a very good post explaining the differences! https://www.unison-lang.org/docs/fundamental

A similar problem happened with logging in Java. For many years, there were several competing libraries for logging. Eventually, the community converged on basically none of them, and it became a convention that libraries should use an impl

That does not make the problem go away: now you'll have both versions in your dependency graph - hence you may be vulnerable to both version's CVEs.

Why are people disagreeing with this? This is absolutely a problem that most other languages don't have. If you want to claim that Rust's error system is "better" than anything else (as the author did), you should have a

Compare discussions about banking with discussions about evoting ! One is totally fine for software to handle, the other is absolutely not!! That tells you which one people really consider critical.

Static types and ADTs are orthogonal to being FP, as Rust clearly shows. But to speak in terms of FP when those are the important things for you is just wrong since even non FP languages now have ADT, including also mainstream languages lik

How so?? JVM bytecode should be much easier to bind to, as the existence of JVM alternative runtimes for nearly every language shows.
