These recent posts about Ubiquiti have made me look again at MikroTik. Their hardware is more affordable than I had remembered. Is there any good intro to their hardware - there are certainly a lot more options than you get with Ubiquiti. E

That’s a pretty interesting device - inexpensive enough that maybe I could justify having it on my fridge.

This was one of the big reasons my newest phone is an iPhone, not an Android phone. I am tired of buying new hardware every 2-3 years just to have a secure device.

I understand that centralised CAs are not ideal, but how is HTTPS by default any worse than plaintext?

How would you know to trust the platform you are running on without some sort of hardware key and attestation? You need to be able to determine from your guest that you are running in this confidential environment rather than in some emulat

Rsync.net looks great but the storage cost is 5x B2 unfortunately EDIT: As mentioned below this is for the most expensive (lowest capacity) tier. I’d been comparing for my own home use and so I would be unlikely to exceed 10TB but if you’re

Caffeine dependence isn't much fun either - whilst I don't know of any long term health impacts, the severe headache when you miss a caffeinated drink in the morning sucks.

I don't think Vancouver is as bad as you make it out to be. No, you will not make the same money here as in Seattle, it's often something like a 1/3rd pay cut. That is not a bad income however, it is easily enough to rent and

Work at MS, that term has been used for a long time internally, certainly longer than I have worked here. It really is very useful to be able to go find the code for a product when you want to understand how something works.

The new compute module would work but the issue with the SoC on the Raspberry Pi is that it's not terribly low power. You'd do better with something from Qualcomm, MediaTek or Allwinner that's designed for mobile use.

What stack are you using that you find the 512GB limit to be a problem? I've picked up one of the 16/512 MBPs and am wondering if I should swap it for a 16/1TB MBA, or maybe MBP but I have a little while to decide.

FFI can work - P/Invoke with C# for example doesn't care if you're cross compiling or not, but it comes at the cost of needing a definition of the interface in your code. Windows makes cross compiling work by shipping the lib

I have seen an interesting point raised elsewhere. macOS on ARM will be able to run iOS apps (assuming the author doesn’t opt out). That means that a lot of the uses of electron or similar may no longer be needed. Slack, Spotify, etc. Some
