My first thought: is this the most effective way that the CEO of one of the web's biggest companies should be spending his time? Hacking is fun, sure, but I'm not sure I want the captain of my ship down greasing the engine. Everything sends

One wonders if this will be the file first fed into something approximating machine consciousness. I'm not sure where else you can easily get such a high-quantity of fairly consistent human interest data. Quick question: what does "bot-edit

Oh, I agree that the camera is just one tool in a filmmaker's arsenal. Great film is a combination of amazing talent and technology. My point is that we've never seen a leap in technology quite like this one. You could mount this camera on

Right. RED One was designed from the ground-up to be the ultimate digital cinema camera. The 5D-M2? A few software engineers likely spent a week or two tweaking out the video capture that tied into whatever chip the hardware guys had slappe

Correct. A fully rigged RED will put you in the $50k range. The RED is 100% designed as a filmmaker's tool, it is as solid as a rock. You can't even properly plug a microphone into the 5K-M2. But at the end of the day, they are both similar

For those of you not familiar with what is going on in the DSLR world, everything shifted when the 5D Mark II came out. We are talking earthquake-like fault lines. It gave every indy film-maker an insta-hard-on. It was just another standard

The real issue is that most folks don't know how to be real entrepreneurs. They are think they are in business, but they are actually just engaging in a personal hobby. If you are creating a forum, tossing AdSense of it and waiting for the

Sheesh folks. Rather than the jumping on the 'its-abnormal', maybe we could find some innovative uses for this kind of UI? My first instinct: "oooh, this feels just like Picasa, very smooth scrolling, I could spend an hour flipping through

My first thought was about Elon. Anyone passing away is tremendously sad. But in that sadness, I think it is good to acknowledge we didn't lose a great visionary today. We need them.

Brilliant. I was turned off by the need to compile separately with Ruby. Now I can play with it without that overhead and always compile down when done with development for speed. Kudos!

I don't think a future where bandwidth is capped is going to work. We need more bandwidth in our homes. We will eventually need more bandwidth to our phones. It smells of a limited-vision knee-jerk reaction. And my reaction is to bail on AT
