And why are they anywhere in proximity to each other in case something (a ship?) runs into them? If they aren't in proximity ... hmmm. We talk about redundancy all the time. Many of us are experts in redundancy from the software level all t

Yep, Sinatra ain't Rails. But Sinatra is a great way to get closer to the metal that Rails allows you with it's powerful voodoo magic. You can get to know Ruby and still build well-designed MVC style apps.

Interesting how they have a continuity program (monthly payments). It'll be interesting to see how they do this. Give away the app and then when you are in-app they ask for your credit card number?

Dean Kamen had a really cool water purifier. I wonder if it'll ever hit the streets. And how it competes with this solution.

I'm guessing that's a general recurring theme anytime a new technology arrives. Weren't Kleenexes originally for taking off make-up? It'll be interesting to see where they take this service.

I second playing with CodeIgniter first. It's very "liberal" in the way it allows you to set things up, which means you'll be learning PHP and not fighting the framework designer. You aren't constrained by the framework. If you want to do q

It's truly a bummer that 3rd parties can't access the dock connector for data xfer. A card swiper would work great attached to the bottom of the phone.

I really like this idea too, just like stars in Gmail. A star would appear next to the article name in the index page (and detail page). One click and a star next to the article. Works like a charm in Gmail. No need to even float stars to t

I think this is brilliant. We need more competition on the battery front. We are in 2008 using technology that is basically the same as 1808. Intel is all about serious research.

The issue with DIY is that you can easily get black listed by a major ISP. If enough idiots mark your "Welcome to MyService.com" as spam, you are screwed. Once done, nobody at that ISP is going to get your mail. That's the advantage big pla
