I'd like to know who the author thinks is giving Flash a run for it's money with some evidence. Silverlight? HTML+Canvas+Ajax+JS? (If it's possible to blast pixels on a webpage quickly enough, I'm sure we'll see frameworks popping out of th

For any of you working with creating "apps-in-the-browser", ExtJS is a pretty well-thought out platform. It's a JS framework that includes many of the common widgets you find on the desktop. Google 'ext samples' and prepare to be impressed.

It's good to hear mainstream covering this. I'd like to hear more back from Apple. Where art thou App Store Evangelist at Apple?

I think you make a valuable point. App Store, although tremendously powerful at marketing, isn't the end all. In theory, you could push yourself into the top 10 list with enough external marketing. At which point, you get the supercharger s

Would you buy a robo-woman? How accurate to life would she have to be? 50% 80% 95%? At what point do men swear off women when they get a taste of robo-women?

"She doesn’t need holidays, food or rest and she will work almost 24-hours a day. She is the perfect woman." I'm a white male, born and raised in the midwest, (where you'll find more traditional roles), and I find this offensive.

Wow, I started going through my threads (because I didn't take the time to read that there was a sorted karma link!) and I was surprised how damn much I've had to say since I started posting here. It was a bit of a walk back through time.

You might want to chuck a copyright on that code, in case some fellow hackers want to take the idea and run with it. (That assumes you want other folks messing with it!)

Didn't know an .getImageData() existed! (Sometime I need to look at the bleeding edge APIs.) Very cool hack!

Seriously, seriously. This isn't Reddit. This is Y!Hack. These kinds of comments aren't necessary. I'm tempted to flag this.

Important point here: you WILL have an adjustment period. You'll have to learn the quirks of the OS. (Where's the damn menu bar!) You'll have to find similar apps to the ones you've used in Windows. (Assuming you don't want to VM everything

It's nice that they bundle the runtime. With fat hard-drives and blazing fast connections, it would be nice to put an end to the days where installing has been a serious headache for end-users.

In general, beyond AppStore, there is no good download platform on the leading OSes. With this product, you still have to know how to drag the app into the App's folder and then you need to know how to dig around your Applications to find i

I think the days of "native desktop" widgets are waning. One the web, there is no "standard" and people are getting used to it. I'm a fan of "native", don't get me wrong. But I'm seeing more of this every day.

It's obvious there has been a tremendous amount of development time invested in the project. Looks great, feels good. There are many site builders out there, so I think execution counts for a lot. Two quick suggestions: 1) Get a demo video

Maybe this would be a great upsale for clients that don't want to muddle through the videos themselves (cough, Fortune 500 marketing folks who love reports, cough) -- have the videos cranked thru Amazon's Mechanical Turk and then the Turker

Very interesting model. The big question I have (and can't seem to figure it out reading the docs) is how security is handled. (That's been the huge issue with JS talking to a DB.) From the security FAQs: "It is the responsibility of the ap
