As usual, we won't care until it's too late. That will be the history of our human civilization, too obsessed about today, never being truly serious about our future generations.

Cool, I was wondering that exact thing yesterday: why no jet engine grill? Not all engineering problems are solvable! (Or should be solved.)

Jobs is Apple. But Pixar? Pixar is more John Lasseter and Andrew Stanton, directors of their blockbusters. Without the passions of those guys, Pixar wouldn't be where they are now.

I'm a bit surprised that Google doesn't have an employee agreement in place preventing this. Many can extend well past your employment.

I have a backpack and I take it everywhere. Not sometimes, but every single day I hit up a coffeeshop. So it's very portable. If you regularly plug into a bigger screen, a smaller machine might be better. If the Dell isn't compatible yet, I

I love my MBP 17" with 1900x resolution. It allows me to pack my screen full. It sounds like it isn't in your budget, but as a developer, you might think about screen real estate. I had a 15" but couldn't develop on it. Since I got this 17"

I really liked the post the other day where they handed the interviewee a chunk of code and asked them to "make it better".

Whuu? Should we flag every blog that puts ads on their page? Look, it's one thing if there are 5 hosts listed, but this guy obviously put a ton of effort into gather this data. Don't be so quick to pull the trigger, folks.

Wow, did the company really not think that far ahead? How difficult is it, really, to set up a service that can be scaled these days? This is a good reason to hire the best systems- and programming-level guys you can. They wouldn't have ove

I like services like this, however, the problem I run into is remembering the "command-line-like shortcuts". Was Amazon "amazon book" or "amz book" or "book amzon.com". And "what was the syntax for getting the definition?". Or "Do they have

The script appears to be a command-line tool where you plug in your telephone number and it hits a Dominos backend, parses the page and returns the status of your pizza from oven to delivery. I'm actually surprised Dominos tracks each pizza

I think it's imperative. From an outsider's perspective, most start-ups look like a bunch of nuts riding the edge of sanity. From the inside, you have to convince yourself that you will succeed. Yes, it looks a little bit like crazy.

I disagree, I thought it was an amazing blog post. The bottom-line is that you have to entertain online. No entertainment, no visitors. And people aren't entertained when they see a big wall o' text. If you were even slightly entertained, I

Hmm, having a private repo might be pretty nice. I wonder if the Dropbox cats have thought about doing something like this? They could continue acting as a "controller" and route data elsewhere.

I'm both a consumer and creator. I consume large quantities of non-fiction, but would prefer to write fiction. I'd rather create video games than play them. I don't think consuming and creating are mutually exclusive.
