The animation and VFX artists in California are unionized. For example, here's the Animation Guild [1] and the list of studios covered [2]. It's basically all the big names plus many of the small ones. What the union couldn'

Athas, now that you’ve added fp16, why not add bf16 as well? (A100s support bf16 natively, as do upcoming server CPUs).

This is a Show HN post. While you have valid criticisms (small labels, using filenames as labels produces lots of package.json, etc.), the way you shared it certainly violates the site guidelines (“Be kind”). You knew you were being harsh a

Oh sorry, I meant this person specifically (they seemed really angry about it and/or surprised). I don’t find any of the rules surprising, so I’m genuinely curious which one is so offensive!

Just a nit, but the San Francisco median household income is around $112k [1] for the same year as the $68k you mentioned [2]. I think 50% more counts as “much above the national figure”. [1] https://www.census.gov/quickfact

If you’re already writing Python, check out ofxtools [1]. Pretty easy to use, and csingley has done a great job modeling the OFX specs, complete with type hints! [1] https://github.com/csingley/ofxtools

I will admit to considering going into the “wrong” half of the international terminal at SFO to eat at Tartine or Kin Khao instead [1] and then head over to my flight. If the security line is short enough, it’s kind of worth it. [1] https:

I don’t think the food or drinks at the Manufactory Food Hall in SFO [1] have that high of a premium. They’re starting from a high base, but I don’t recall it being “the usual” +50%. [1] https://sf.eater.com/2019/1/

Huh! You left out the most funky part: you wrote a FIX parser in Typescript . What are people using it for? To make web apps and just not have to roll their own wrappers around FIX/FIX-derived data? (That is, if all back ends are used

Have you / your journalist group considered using Outline [1]? I think you can get by on either the GCP or AWS free tiers for hosting the server (and/or DO at $5/month for unlimited bandwidth). At that point, you’ve got your

Does full FDA approval make a meaningful difference, though? If anything, it seems like if someone doesn’t want to rely on the current EUA (because of limited data, incentives, etc.) then they shouldn’t suddenly be okay with the FDA’s ful

Yeah, I figured it was worth a chance. Fwiw, multiple companies mentioned they would also move to require vaccination once it’s no longer EUA. I should have included that in my original framing. To me , that sounds more like “once the gove

That’s certainly going to be true for some people. But my express goal in this thread is to hear a good faith “full authorization argument” from someone who honestly argues for it. I believe arguments exist that I haven’t considered.

I think waiting for long-term effects to be clear is a defensible position. What I don’t follow is that, AFAICT, full authorization is likely ~6 months from the date of filing (so November to January depending on manufacturer). So we won’t

Agreed on concerns about long-term effects! But I don’t believe FDA approval includes that. If anything, I suspect long covid, mRNA surprises, and similar issues will only be truly apparent in the multi-year timeframe. Again though, FDA app
