I think it's too difficult to prove in most cases. Like if somebody is riding one on the sidewalk. I don't think GPS is exact enough to definitively say whether they were on the sidewalk on in the road 6 feet away, especially if t

The other way to phrase it is that we need to make the price of a good or service more accurately reflect the negative externalities.

When talking about the voltage of US residential service, and the devices that use it, 240 and 220, and 120 and 110 are functionally the same. The house theoretically has 240v and 120v power, but voltage may sag throughout the home's w

This doesn't sound like much of a barrier to me. If you're a human training the LiDAR system, couldn't you just consult the image or video to help label whatever the LiDAR is seeing?

I think the explanation that adheres to Occam's Razor is that he was just an awful person to work for or with, and he abused his privilege as founder. That's not a difficult thing for me to believe.

> I’m not sure how anyone here could say that James O’Keefe did anything wrong in this case, unless your political ideology overrides your rationality. There was all the other stuff about mistreating employees and misuse of company funds

But there have been cases of industries or companies pushing things that consumers aren't really interested in in any non-trivial numbers.

But would supporting a Linux client bring in more money than it costs? I remember reading claims from other software projects that Linux was an insignificant percentage of their user base but a majority of their support tickets.

I don't think LLM companies need permission to scrape Reddit. It's ironic because Reddit is basically saying "you can't profit off user content for free, that's what we're doing!"

We have a long way to go. In the US I think bikes are still primarily seen as toys for either children or upper middle class adults. Car culture is deeply ingrained here, and discouraging personal automobile use is going to be seen by a lar

Am I naive for wondering why Amazon would allow this? What's in it for them? It hurts the customer, it hurts their brand, it breaks the illusion that you own the book, it breaks trust in buying books on Kindle. If I were above the Kind

I like the attempt to scare the reader by pointing out the barcode is unencrypted and anybody with an simple scanner could get it. But if they're holding your ID I'm pretty sure they can already read all of that same info printed

I use a similar setup just for near my cat litter box. Almost totally eliminates pet smell. I have an AC Infinity fan I really like, it's very quiet on the lowest 3 of 8 speeds. The filter is just some generic brand. I never want to ow

I use multiple locks when I have to leave mine outside for an extended period. Like 2 U-locks, a cable and possibly a padlock. An angle grinder will still go through all that, but I'm hoping a thief would just pick an easier target.
