+1 for Dark Reader. I use it to change the font on every website, darkmode _everything_, and even paid for the ios version. Fantastic plugin. Using it on brave, safari, firefox, chrome.

I’ve been using textra for a wrapper on the Apple vision sdk https://github.com/freedmand/textra But this project calls torch and a bunch of other ML libs. So it’s not using Apple vision?

I don’t get this. There was no actual punishment for Facebook — so what will make them change their behaviour? Secondly, how can the lawyers just LIE and say he deleted his account when the company itself must have records of that. If they

I feel like I should have just paid money to have read something that valuable. There is incredible and no doubt hard won wisdom in this note. Amazing. Thank you.

One 'solution' for this might be just to let viewers judge. Have some kind of live voting system, and then this might change skating incentives to align closer with the aesthetic preferences of the actual audience.

But he contemplates many scenarios in which “the client” is fragmented thing. Ie one division contracts you then gets eliminated and the company wants to renege. There “the client” has in a sense stopped existing. So how does your experienc

Astonishing. Deeply humbling. I cried so much reading it. It’s an important piece of writing.

The piece gives a lot of superficial reasons, but they just push back the level of explanation. Reading between the lines, the ultimate reason seems to be something like “because they can.”

+1. came here to confirm this had been posted so I didn't have to. Such a nutty book, but kind of addictive and fun to join him.

SQLite couldn’t be the problem. Scales well to millions and millions of rows. Clearly something else going on.

They kept the other spying secret for a long time and it was only due to pretty heroic actions by one person that it got exposed. So I duno.

You need to generate backpressure. Or indeed find something else and bail out. At least tell them why though.

feeling massive scope creep in the use of this term 'autistic' of late... It's gone from a personality type we might call 'nerdiness' (and many entailments) to this kind of quasi-medicalised definition.

Kind of amazed that while programmers’ whole game is to develop systematic solutions to annoying problems… our own most basic need hasn’t been really met this way? For instance devdocs does not have a bunch of libraries that I use regularly

Hm. Let's think about what your goal is here. Isn't it to communicate with an imagined reader? What would be the point of cranking out the content if it's basically... borderline unreadable, and therefore not fulfilling the p

Also recall that a 50% speed improvement in SQLite was caused by 50-100 different optimisations that each eeked out 0.5-1% speedups. On phone now don’t have the ref but it all adds up.
