If the employer offers terms you don’t like then don’t work for them. If you feel inclined you can say “I’m taking a job with an employer who doesn’t pay based on location”. But there’s really no reason to do the employer the service of tel

Slightly off topic but collaborative programming seems to be a big unsolved and ignored problem in programming. A recent HN discussion on microservices had people saying (paraphrasing) “it’s the only way we can collaboratively build softwar

This post implies relationship between 37 Signals success and the ebook. But really their success was all about Ruby On Rails and the community and publicity and audience that brought. So I’m not sure quite what to make of this post.

I often think about how YouTube was the bargain of the century. YouTube would be one if the biggest companies ever if it had remained independent.

You are correct and I agree with you. I have not worked in big projects, only small, so that’s where my beliefs come from. I feel the problem is a software problem that should be solved by better development tools/languages rather than

I prefer lower devops complexity and higher software application complexity. Any day. Microservices is higher devops complexity in exchange for lower software application complexity. A really terrible deal IMO.

I’m not a fan of these frameworks. They add another giant layer of stuff to learn and understand. I’d rather just program react and the browser instead of hoping some framework will do it all for me.
