I've been reading into this today coincidentally. It seems the main idea was that register based machines are faster, mostly due to the use of local variables in many languages mapping to register and memory latency when the stack is i

Maybe you are not the target audience? I found it a decently informative read myself. Why is it necessary to understand how verilog is exactly transformed into gates? Sounds like gatekeeping to me, but please enlighten me. I have in the pas

Are there even humans involved? I mean, I've seen some interactions with YT 'support' which clearly was just a bot pretending to be a human. Anyway, this won't stop until we stop using youtube. Not sure how to do that th

I loved Redmine. Best issue tracker and planner I've ever used. Even the git integration was servicable! But these days everything (work related) is on Github and while it is pretty mediocre for issue tracking, it is better then having

It was the endless login popups and constant rerouting when in traffic that did it for me. Google maps just suck because, first of all, it is a Google product meant to harvest data and trick people into making accounts if you ask me..

It's the natural evolution of content marketing & SEO. I work at an IT company where we have ~15 ppl building and managing a few SaaS apps for the travel industry, and we have 50-60 ppl doing marketing as a service for our customer

I've tried using PG FTS in a real application, it didn't scale very well. It worked well for 100s-1000s of records, but after that queries would quickly go from a few ms to like 500ms. And another 400ms for highlighting. Mind you,

This is an important point, real life performance looks nothing like benchmarks in most cases. From my personal experience: benchmarks showed Jruby was MUCH MUCH faster the 'normal' Cruby. But try running a basic rails application
