I'd take that with a grain of salt. Apple likes to threaten removal of technologies they have deprecated as a way to increase adoption of their replacements but rarely if ever go from deprecation to removal so aggressively, at least on

Well yes, but how suitable is GDP/capita as a measure? e.g. If you care for your own parents or children you have contributed nothing to GDP, but if you put them in a nursing home or daycare then you have. If you grow your own food and

I doubt it, Signal is terrible. Extremely sterile user experience, almost the complete opposite of something like LINE. They need to make it more fun.

That's reasonable but even in a world war, you need only put people on nuclear submarines to protect humanity from extinction. Martian colonies are not necessary.

I apologise for the snark. However there are other much more effective forms of HIV prophylaxis, such as condoms. I find it hard to imagine that any adult would choose to circumcise themselves because they were worried about HIV.

Chopping the whole thing off would reduce the risk of HIV even further.

Not true in the UK, most people apply for their biometric passport online (or by post, which costs more). Adults applying for their first passport may be asked to attend an interview.

If you are working with a large team, you need a statically typed language. Access modifiers are the least of your problems, the lack of refactoring support is a much bigger problem.

Optimistically, self-driving vehicles may allow the west to finally discover the joys of share taxis, which would increase people/vehicle and (hopefully) decrease congestion.

I'd go further and say that Apple isn't basing their hardware strategy on the needs of any real person. It's a laptop with only USB-C ports (and the 13-inch only has two of them). You can't even plug a USB stick into i

Because childhood is a rare time in one's life where you have the freedom to enjoy the outside, and not have to sit in front of a screen. FWIW I don't think books are a good use of time either.

I don't think sandboxing install scripts will help much, as any code in the package will be executed when that package is require()'d. You really need to sandbox the whole of `node`.

How would GPG signing help? If someone can execute arbitrary code on your computer as your user account , the game is over, you are totally owned. An attacker can simply start signing their package with your GPG key. Since you are probably
