I'm really confused now. I read the article but don't follow it. I've read that we and chimps share over 90% of our genes. Therefore oughtn't we and Neanderthals share more genes than that? Certainly more than 2.4%.

I came into this with very little background, so forgive an ignorant question about something that must be very complex, but what does "Europeans consist of up to 5% or more Neanderthal genetic stock?" 5% of Europeans are Neander
