We use xmpp for our company’s IOT product suite. Works quite well with its presence and messaging capabilities .. Backend runs ejabberd.

Interesting indeed. The bit about Solaris -> Solar is nice/funny. I guess its an update to some system or kernel config file. Or for super hacker points, edit appropriate binary using adb :)

Umm .. pretty standard & generally lame line of questioning at many companies/countries. Sounds like you were offended or surprised by it?

What? Next an enterprise software company is one of the weirdest takes i’ve ever heard in my 3 decades in the industry. They were a workstation manufacturer with impressively cute UIs and an interesting software stack over MachOS

Agree. The only recent UI/safety advancents have been a good rear & side camera; and blind spot detection & warning system. The rest are for folks who should not be driving a vehicle at all. Until reliable FSD becomes widesprea

That is an unfair insinuation - ‘that he sounds proud of it’. There are many reasons one stays quiet - like you are sole provider for a family, its beem going on for a while that you ignore/doubt its seriousness etc.

Ha, have you been to an indian wedding in India? Now that’s big big money. And the societal pressures to make it so are huge .. American weddings are so tame and sensible by comparison. Far better to spend those $$ on weddings rather than f

Lots of buzzwords in your comment, but pointless. This is a complete waste of money, and a burden on the living to ‘show off’ their status. The ancient egyptian kings at least had the resources, power and wealth to build their pyramids..

Nope. Devops != any sort of pre-sales/post-sales/solution engineering. It requires a more holistic, generalist view, and a degree of customer understanding, empathy, management and conversational skills well beyond typical devops.

The only folks who like devops are those that haven’t touched anything else, or are scared to move out of that molehill. Try it once .. is my advice
