I think you're missing the point--the CEO asked the victim to take down her blog because it was bad press. If you were considering funding the company, wouldn't you want to know about potential issues?

I find this a bit silly. I could understand, maybe, if I had four tabs open with Flash going in each one, or perhaps a very JS-intensive UI. But if I'm doing mostly "normal" browsing and my browser needs for than a gig of RAM to operate n

I think the larger point is: if you want to be in the public eye, then you need to fully expect that someone is always digging for dirt, and thus it's better to keep your nose clean. Perhaps Spitzer was taken down because of his investigat

I work at a Windows shop, and this comes at a good time for us, as node would scratch an itch, but prior to the Windows release, would have required additional infrastructure to use.

We used a service for our first kid, and yeah, keeping a pail of soiled diapers around for a week isn't ideal. For our second kid, we just purchased our own diapers and did the laundry every two days.

I'm guessing the parent is referring to a cloth diaper service.

The "Preview" GMail theme has a variation of this, keeping the toolbar in a fixed position as you scroll. It's not infinite, though, as each inbox "page" contains 50 messages.

Agreed. But, then again, even when I did work at start-ups in the 90s, without kids and responsibilities, I much preferred "out of the office" activities. I thoroughly enjoy programming, and make time to hack when I'm not in the office, b

It is a matter of scale. I'm of the opinion that the FDA and the department of agriculture, in coordination with the factory farms, have made it very difficult for small farmers to survive (Joel Salatin is an excellent source of informatio

I don't have hard facts, but if done correctly, pasturing/grass-feeding animals means it is possible raise and feed a herd without adding energy inputs (aside from the sun and rain necessary to grow the grass). This, at least, applies to a

What was FB's initial college roll out? Tens of thousands of users? I suspect Google would have several times that many in the few minutes of a full roll out.

Keep in mind that many C# MVC devs are well accustomed to this. The default MVC project template includes jQuery.

And isn't the FUD just directed at Silverlight development? I could see Silverlight losing ground as more browsers support HTML5, but as others have pointed out, UI is only small part of the .NET ecosystem.

Pennsylvania's state budget is currently proposing a $1 billion cut to the education budget. http://www.paschoolfunding.org/2011/05/2011-2012-budget-upda... And this isn't about not getting increases--program funding is getting rolled bac

My commute has been ~30 minutes each way for the last five years. Seems like a perfect distance. Previously, I had a 20+ mile commute (each way), which I did three days a week. That was not ideal.

I've been a full-time bike commuter for about 15 years now. I love it, and couldn't imagine driving to work. That said, I don't mind taking the bus sometimes because it does give me time to think, write, or read. The only thing I don't li

I run VS2010 in a similar way, though it is much easier to strip off the widgets. Most of my co-workers don't understand how I can work that way. I tell them it's all about learning (or modifying) keybindings.
