The share economy allows people to use their invested capital (vehicle, home, etc) to generate income - the platforms like Airbnb and Uber provide high quality alternatives and came about due to a void in the market. I have 3 personal anecd

I wonder if simply having riders set the rating threshold and a maximum fare would allow drivers more power to choose the fares they want as an independent contractor. Consider that if a driver sets a minimum fare as well, has a given ratin

I understand this point as well, but imagine you got into earlier and tied up your existing capital in that $700. You wouldn't have been able to capture the next 70x.

For anyone unfamiliar with Minix, it appears to be a tiny OS: > MINIX 3 is a free, open-source, operating system designed to be highly reliable, flexible, and secure. It is based on a tiny microkernel running in kernel mode with the rest

It sounds like there might be a (very tiny) market for an entirely audited GPL stack. Intel made a sound, responsible decision for everyone involved except the privacy crowd.

I believe Intel did give attribution, but to MINIX itself. It really is just an ask for a 'hey, thanks' that was deserved.

In reality most Americans cannot afford snow tires- the ones that do tend to be upper middle class skiing folk, in my experience.

It’s also possibly not worth solving. I don’t know off the top of my head but I’d assume most of the population lives in temperate cities that rarely see the kind of icy weather regularly. Your vehicle could just not drive automatically in

Like others have said, the vehicle will localize using GPS, LIDAR, other image features and then attempt to continue in it’s route. If the confidence is low the system will most likely just take no action. I did the self driving car class o

That's pretty exciting. I'm curious when we can just compile our views into some IR or byte code that can be natively run. Isn't that kinda what WASM is trying to do?

I think SoundCloud's downfall would be it's huge investment into record label deals, it's paywalling to support said deals and then the lack of adoption for it's subscription service for access to those label's musi

It literally just (1) keeps printing money for investors and (2) keep some people employed. Ambitious people will take the mantle every 15-20 years and do more of 1 and 2 until they make a mistake. The goal of a successful company is basica

As an employee, it was pretty apparent people didn't want you there. The Stranger would post inflammatory articles about tech bros and unflattering caricatures. My girlfriend and I moved up from Texas completely unaware of the stigma.

I worked as a late-night valet in downtown Austin when I was in college. We would go into the bars to get water even though we were underage and eventually we got the idea to go in with our valet uniform on, take it off and order drinks.
