This is super cool, but I’d like to know more. You can’t reload plugins without changing the plugin path and any shared references won’t get GC’d, from what I remember. I tried to do server handler hot reloading via plugins and ran into thi

I worked on payments at SoundCloud where we used Adyen as well. I didn't get much exposure but superficially it wasn't ideal. Integrations were wonky for each country and we had to glue it all together.

Uber recently open sourced Cadence, which is similar to AWS SWF [1] and built by the same principal engineer. A good overview was presented at Data @ Scale [2] if you're interested. Under the covers, it manages a set of queues for you

It seems like it’s becoming more and more toxic. It’s a place to get your product or project criticized and reduced to the sum of its parts, rather than support.

It's much harder to bike in SF without an electric assist. I biked for 2 years in Seattle with no problems, moved to NYC and enjoyed the occasional trip over the Williamsburg bridge. Now in SF and I've only tried to bike once. It

I worked at Polycom for two years out near the Freescale campus. Talk about a lifestyle company, the product (cheaper conference phones than Cisco) barely changed and we had so many company outings. I felt it was a scam, like some kind of m

I graduated with a CS degree and the offers in my peer group were pitiful. TXDOT, USAA, Defense Contractors etc. The best companies were Visa and Intel, back in 2013. It’s definitely not a place where you can hop around every 2 years workin

I’m from Austin and have met many tech people who want to move there. They’ll get a rude awakening when they actually look for jobs- it’s slim pickings and the satellite offices there for major tech companies often work on pretty boring pro

I also work alone on a Go service and have some complex models. I used Gorm and then for complex selects broke out the raw sql. It works okay, I’m still having to bolt on things like OCC and Versioning to my models. I’m glad I used it thoug

More so federal funding has bent states into the shape that the federal government wants them to be. Funding with strings and the interstate commerce clause subdued the States’ power realistically.
