Xing isn't any better. When you register, you get all the features. After a month, when you don't upgrade your account, you only see who was on your profile (picture) but can't click on them. You can't even send messages to your friends any

It depends on you. Wear what you feel the most confortable with. If you are genuinely interested in working in that company and you have a nice CV, it doesn't matter if you turn up in a suit or not. You are not yet working for them, so you

These are highschool courses or? We did that in highschool (allthough it was repeated in university as well). I suspect the russians are learning that in primary school, because they are so good at math. ;)

Taking away that 1/3 share of his partner Saverin (who seeded facebook) by transfering verything to another company was kinda lame. But I guess, if you want to be a good business man, you have to be greedy after all.

This won't happen, as the "Change in Control Employee Severance Plans" is explicitely activated as soon as a change of control happens (election of new board).

Yahoo is dead. This will only make google's monopoly bigger. Yahoo should have teamed up with Microsoft, and they would have a chance. But instead they waste time on introducing a poison pill (see http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=214893

So why do they bill 30 times for a click from the same ip? This is one of the simplest fraud patterns to detect. (And I bet they have some kind of mechanism to find out if an ip is a gateway for more computers or just a single user pc) I si

They probably don't want their system to be perfect. Just on the same level as the competitors, because fraudulent clicks bring them money as well. If an IP clicked 30 times on the same ad, then there is something fishy going on. If you wer

Interesting. At I first I thought that the poisened url would only affect my own session and would be pretty useless with https, but combined with caching, it is definitely a very interesting approach.

Now that sounds interesting. Why did you quit or did you sell your search engine? I'm doing some search stuff myself (I haven't launched so far) and it would be nice to be able to get some tips. However I do not expect to reach 600 million

Google doesn't allow automated queries. An old soap api key might still work. (At least it works for the former company I worked for, but I think they also had a special deal with google)

As far as I know, you don't have to pay anything to a patentholder as long as he doesn't contact you! Until then you are free to use as many patents as you like. But you better ask your lawyer on this topic.
