We’ll probably never know. It wouldn’t surprise me if they both forgot about it, and then like a year later he’s looking at his bank receipts and like “woh, what’s that big check?” And maybe never even asked for the money back.

This sounds like an early spin on the advance-fee scam.”Hi, you know me, I’m Jimmy Page, I have tons of money, but I just don’t have access to it right now. If you were to give me some money now, it would help me buy this bookstore that’s o

An interesting idea just struck me. If this is all in native Rust then you could do something interesting with macro defined SQL queries, where at compile time, you could output direct bindings from the SQL to the internal DB api. This woul

This isn’t bad news, as the second paragraph states, “Back in 2019, a whopping 71% of Teslas were traded in for gas cars, while 18% were traded in for hybrids. Only 10% were traded for another EV.” Clearly the trend is on the rise for BEV.

If we’re going to do some time travel, I’d also like to make the DNS packets easily versionable and add some space for additional version codes, the current extension mechanism with eDNS is quite cumbersome.

I like reordering of the named components to big-endian, but just for reference, the current system dates back to the idea of “search domains”, which allows you to do things like “www” and that takes you to “www.example.com” because that is

This really makes me wonder about the value of TLDs in general. Let’s say that “gmail” is a well known enough name that “gmail.com”, “gmail.org”, …, “gmail.top” should be reserved by default. If that’s the case, then the value of separate T

This is in response to why Americans are not buying EVs. The American auto industry pretty much only advertises its largest vehicles, which is partly what drives that demand.

There is no glut of Chinese EVs because of the tariffs, but it looks like they might work around that, “It’s a scenario that terrifies America’s auto industry. Chinese carmakers set up shop in Mexico to exploit North American trade rules. O

This is already happening. See the recent tariffs on low cost Chinese EVs. If Americans really didn’t want EVs then there should be no need to protect the market from the cheaper Chinese brands, because nobody would be buying them.

I think the use of IDEs really made this practice less simple. Terminal mode emacs and vi/m are simple with SSH, VSCode and other things start getting more complex. I think the extensions to VSCode and others to run remotely with a bro

While you’re not explicitly saying this, C++ in Rust’s terms, is all unsafe. In a multi-threading context like this, that’s even more important.

This is really cool to see. Is anyone potentially working on an integration with this an Tokio to bring these performance benefits to the async ecosystem? Or maybe I should ask first, would it make sense to look at this as a foundational li

Something that makes this even more insidious, is that trying to change roads to be safer often triggers many studies about the impact of those changes. These range from studies on traffic congestion, to safety itself, local business impact

My son would always wriggle around until his hands were up next to his face (this is like 11 years ago). I started swaddling him in that position. We had an ultrasound picture that showed his hand in a similar position, so I guess it carrie

One of the issues is that posted speeds often don’t match the speed the road allows people to comfortably do. To bring speeds down, the things that are generally most effective are street narrowing, speed tables and humps (to bring to speed

I was thinking that maybe you had a large TTL for either the SOA or the minimum TTL field, but both of those are pretty reasonable at 5 minutes and 1 minute. See this RFC, https://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc2308#section-
