I’m not defending OP, but steroids aren’t magic, you still need protein to build muscle.

Bill Pearl became a vegetarian at age 39, at the end of his bodybuilding career. And he ate eggs and dairy products. And he was a body builder in the 50’s and 60’s. But other than that…great example!

No we don’t. In fact we rarely tax intra-family money transfers. When I pay for my kids’ college, that’s not taxed. Buy then a car at 16 - untaxed.

This is one of the silliest comments I’ve read on HN: it’s not fair to have successful parents that love you, therefore the government must step in and fix that.

Neither did the government. Why shouldn’t the person who did earn it get to decide what happens to it? After all, they could choose to donate some to the government. No one does though, voluntarily, because we all know that money would ge

I don’t think the chart is showing that Gen X is screwed at all. It’s just showing that as the Baby Boomer gen dies off, the inheritance will reach an inflection point. It’s looks bad compared to Millennials because the passed down wealth f

What’s the argument FOR an inheritance tax, when it comes to fairness? The person who’s passsing the money down already paid tax on the money, whether income tax or capital gains tax. The government already got a hefty chunk of that earned

As an isolated counter point, in high school I went to a summer program (aka “nerd camp”) where we had Japanese drilled into us from 8am - 9am every day for 5 weeks by native Japanese speakers. I can still count to 10 today 20+ years later.

Who’s the target audience for this? Businesses only? I don’t see consumers plopping down $3k for this in the mass numbers that would matter to Apple’s bottom line.

The only thing sillier than technical analysis is using technical analysis on make-believe money. Looking for a pattern is human nature. Your “sample size” of 3 is by no means indicative of anything. “Historical precedence” - they teach yo

There are dozens, maybe hundreds, of tech companies in the US hiring remotely with compensation between $180k - $250k right now. RSUs might not be the same as SV companies, but we all know those RSUs are worth sh*t right now anyway.
