Thank you so much! I wanted to use this initially but my advisor didn't agree with storing unpublished papers on another server than the localhost/our servers. As a result I was using flylatex[1] which is nice but not as mature as

I think that depends. ArchLinux packages are almost just bash scripts. People can request fixes. I am sure when you first started programming you weren't an expert and that same logic applies to making packages. Multiple distributions

Do people really argue against frequentist statistics? I was under the impression that in bayesian statistics you basically are just weighting your distribution by a prior, usually because there is not enough data yet to use robust frequent

I think the syntax is pcrepattern[1] though I may very well be wrong. I definitely agree to the strength being that you know your editor. I suppose scripting would be hard to do without knowing the editor. I artificially applied vim as the

This is cool. There is already a command called rename[1] that can do some of this but this is much more interactive (and probably more intuitive for vi users). Is this scriptable? [1] http://linux.die.net/man/1/re

What do you use for the extraction of entities (if you don't mind saying)? I entered "The Cat in the Hat" is a good book. It didn't recognize any entities. Are you using an ontology for named entity resolution, or just e

Not sure if the author of this post is on or not but what did you mean when you say you use java for scripting?

I think this is kind of a false dichotomy. If you can find a job right out of highschool in the software industry, you may be able to find a place that has tuition reimbursement for you to take part time classes.

I agree with the complaint too but not only are many of these commands mac only but in addition to that, they are not less commonly used (ex vim). I feel like I could have gotten quite a few less commonly used tools by ls /usr&#x

I believe that people will start pushing attacks once the popularity of sytemd goes up. Why attack something that's not as widely used as sysvinit? I don't think that the argument was that it was scary to upgrade or there were no

Although I generally think most of the arguments in this article are bad, I do believe that having all purchases go through google can add value because even though I don't trust them with my data, I still trust them with my purchases.

I think it's a little different in that Dave Chappelle was on TV and people knew him because they saw him. Dong Nguyen is a developer and while he will still be famous it will be among a much smaller community (in my opinion).

Perhaps you can extend the F1-score[1] to be an F1,w-score that weights errors based on some measure of distance from correctness. [1] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F1_score

The state of libreoffice is quite good in general, but for academic papers with references it tends to butcher them. I haven't tried wine for MS office, I run in a VM instead because someone else told me that their version of office di
