mcmaster is the most polished ui/ux you know? To each their own but this is a very hackernews comment - it's very much a site for engineers but I can't agree it's a polished UI or UX. To me: Sense of hierarchy is off, ac

Am I missing something about training time? Does adding per token noise cause training to slow significantly? Cool paper though!

What could DARPA/Washington do and why would “they” know what goes on behind the scenes at OpenAI?

If you understand what a Gaussian Process is, you understand what a Gaussian Distribution is. This work estimates the parameters of many Gaussian Distribution in order to fit the approximate geometry of a GD to a geometry in a scene.

The point of a Nerf is effectively overfitting a neural network to a scene anyways (I think they say this in the original NeRF paper - or somewhere similar).

Yes. At a minimum it’s very easy to imagine contracts on the order of 10k per month and 100k per month. If you read about enterprise sales those numbers are normal. In my opinion their huge valuation is wack but the parent comment wasted th

Agreed. We're evaluating remix at work to use on a rewrite project and this seems like it will make it harder to adopt - and harder to cast as an alternative to next.js

If you go off the beaten path in Xochimilco you need to be super careful. I wouldn’t recommend it unless you know what you’re doing.

Crazy good results but without the paper (which the link at the time just goes back to the site) it's a bit difficult to check how good. What data is required, how long are training runs/how many steps?

Maybe larger companies are calling back remote workers but many small-medium companies still offer remote for a variety of reasons (competition, savings, etc). I just accepted an offer at a 500ish person company working fully remote.

Following negative exponential growth towards the top makes some sense. You want to have more weight towards the bottom/middle for balance. Interesting that the bulk is in the middle of the stalk. edit: Maybe I misunderstood? I'm

I prefer keeping the javascript surface area minimal. I can definitely see this as a footgun that newer programmers will use to mess up JS codebases with spaghetti of weird effects linked together

Vercels hosting is ok. I prefer cloudflare and AWS but vercel is still best for next.js first class support. Especially on newest versions. For instance, server functions currently don’t work on cloudflares nextjs hosting. There’s some disc

I see this pretty often here unfortunately. Very confidently wrong statements from people who aren’t actual experts. For historical reasons there’s a sort of guise of expert on HN that can be abused.

Chicatana ants are so incredible. They're a seasonal delicacy in Mexico and have a great nutty, proteiny, chocolately flavor.

True, although I always had the impression that the violence in large urban centers leaned towards "organized crime" and less "cartel" but that's just my impression.

I've read some weird hacks but the traditional non-centrifuge way to clarify the stock is to use some protein like ground meat or egg white to "absorb" any discolorant, protein, etc.
