"Most Android devices are locked down so that users cannot install apps outside the Android Market (aka "sideloading")." This is new to me. Got any proof? As far as I know in the US it's just AT&T.

The FSF provides what is expected of it: Dogmatic consistency and a warning that without a certain set of freedoms you are a sharecropper. The reason you don't see a more practical suggestion from them is the suggestion involves "none of th

Blocking Facebook in Adblock is the gift that keeps on giving. No need to resort to an additional mod when all you need to do is toss the following in Adblock: ||facebook.com/ ||facebook.net/ ||fbcdn.com/ ||fbcdn.net/

I view this development very positively. Flash is being positioned as being the cutting edge in browser gaming. With Linux support too! It will take years for browsers to catch up and in the meanwhile we have the capability of hosting game

Or they could have just done what Android did. Allow browser plugins and make it Adobe's problem to put the plugin in the market. Google isn't holding back on major OS updates because Adobe isn't ready.

You're ignoring that DropBox has access to your original copy on your computer and can just delete that one when it goes bezerk and deletes the cloud copy too. ;) With that said once a month I copy my DropBox directory to an external hard d

Firefox's minor updates were not really feature updates. On the chart Chrome whole number releases are new feature releases. Firefox 3.5 and 3.6 are seperate because they are similar feature releases. 3.6.0 to 3.6.1 are not.

This piece is essential to Chrome OS. It is the container for legacy code and things where it'll be unrealistic for javascript to handle for years to come. Countdown to SSH client functionality in 5... 4... 3...

I'm a huge Android fan and while I would buy a laptop from Apple I wouldn't touch an iOS device due to disagreement over how the Market is handled. However it doesn't take an Apple fanboi to know this pricing is horrid. This isn't a laptop.

Amazon current streaming works great on Roku but I've been surprised with how few platforms they are on. Netflix totally owns them as far as availability on devices goes and it's something Amazon will have to fix if they are serious.
