So the difference in the far superior West is what? That most people get to make a pitiful wage just to eat and go home to a shoebox after an hour commute that has no central heating, but with rude customer service instead? > never show

I don't think technically sophisticated funds are going to be sharing any details at all for pieces like these. There is bound to be fancy ML in play at hedge funds, though - do not underestimate the lengths to which people will go to

I'd hazard to guess that most people complaining about price are misguided gamers who think Nvidia is now charging them 5x more for a card.

Kindly note I made no claims about whether bitcoin is or isn't novel technologically. Or whether it has a purpose. I said it was irrational that prices increase when the only news is negative. You're clearly being emotional about

Well you have to be better than Chrome, otherwise why switch? I am a diehard Firefox user, but if all you care for is speed then there is no reason to switch until Firefox surpasses Chrome. There are transition costs. For me one killer feat

Not the author, but this is a R Shiny application. If you mean the plots, they are made with ggplot, a package in R. https://shiny.rstudio.com/

That's a meaningless answer. So colleges should be taking in any student regardless of test scores or grades, because clearly poor performers need the education more?

That's funny, I absolutely never use '<-'. Mostly because it's 2 characters, and because it's inconsistent with most languages. Haven't ever run into any issues because of '='. I like your base R p

How is that relevant, the price spiking isn't because of people like you. It's because of people buying in now. People are obviously not capable of understanding risk. Are you serious? You bring up casinos when they are perhaps th

This is a farce. There's only been negative news today and yet prices jump higher than ever. There's no conceivable way this doesn't end badly. I guess people are gambling on being lucky enough to exit before then. Edit: remo

This is a disgusting perspective. The civilization they live in is bankrolled by taxes. The TV they watch, electricity they use, everything they purchase, the customers that purchase their crops... All of this is possible because people pay

Great story that reminds me of something I've had. There's just so much knowledge out there - and growing - that researchers have to be increasingly specialized. Isn't it inevitable that 4 years of undergrad + 1-2 yrs of grad

I suspect your post and the GP are kneejerk reactions to the headline. It really isn't relevant, and is likely only upvoted because of popular anti-China sentiments. I don't disagree with your points but would rather not see any a

I don't see any positives in underestimating China. By overestimating your "opponent", you can only come out ahead. These kinds of articles have the wrong attitude imo.

Seriously, what's with this widespread assumption that because there are two sides, they must be relatively equal? The amount of harm this absurd belief has caused is immeasurable.
