Don't most database libraries convert parameterized queries into stored procedures at runtime? None of the overhead of manually managing stored procedures, but all of the safety benefits.

If I remember correctly, the Ember team isn't planning on abandoning two-way bindings. They simply want to give the developer control on when to use two-way bindings and they are going to make one-way bindings the default. That way you

In theory they could add some new methods to the DOM api to allow for this, but it would be non-standard and currently none of the browsers have it. Something like this maybe? batchDomChanges(); ... dom changes here ... flushDomChanges();

Spend the time to do all that stuff anyway. It's part of your job as a developer and they don't need to know the breakdown of how long it took you to finish the work or what you did with every minute of every day.

I was disappointed that Spring decided to move away from the groovy config option. I thought of all the different configuration options that one looked the most elegant. I really dislike the current "Java" config fad they are goin

The author is incredulous that any of these companies get any work done. Yet. All of these companies are tremendously successful and produce great software. Obviously there is quite a bit of disconnect between what the author thinks and wha

Our CI servers are already virtual machines. Or did you mean my local machine? We have a standard ecosystem that everyone uses, but there must be some difference between the CI server and our ecosystem. I simply haven't had the time to

The writer commented on how some of his best code was written away from the computer and how all of this fast reloading causes poor code to be written. I'm not sure if he would disagree with me, but I think a lot of it depends on the k

I assume it's more about understanding the processes. Once they understand how everything works, they probably just add the image to the code base and add an html tag to the about page. Nothing complicated, and it doesn't sound li

As a junior software engineer you should definitely put feelers out. I would bet changing jobs will increase your pay by at _least_ 10% (that's what happened to me) when most companies only give a raise of about 5%. Even if you don

And PowerMock is the bane of all existence! It can be a useful tool, but it causes all kinds of weirdness which can completely mitigate any advantages. On my current project I had to strip out most of our uses of PowerMock. While the tests

Except in Go don't you have to define the set of methods in interfaces? In Matz's system the interfaces would be discovered by the interpreter at run-time.

Autocomplete + the Internet already erodes many programmers skills to the point where they can barely write code without help. I can't imagine what this kind of tool would do. Not that there is anything wrong with autocomplete. I certa

There is a difference though between commiting a sin then admitting you were wrong and actively promoting a lifestyle that espouses sin. I'd have the same problem with an adulterer who didn't think that their adultery was wrong. I

I have a hard time thinking of anyone as Christian if they ignore the basic tenants of what the Bible says. Homosexuality is very clearly spelled out as wrong. So are plenty of other things of course and the Bible doesn't specify homos

I was going to say that using an Oculus to move the robot on the moon would be a bad idea because of latency. Good to know that it's just shoddy reporting.

GUI tools are nice in some situations, but I find they mostly slow me down. When I'm using Git I want to be fast and a hot-key command window plus the command line is about as fast as you can get.
