It seems to be related to how startups are suddenly valuated at billions without much of a moat or intrinsic value. Just for having "users".

They do have valuables. Their own cash, maybe tips, the cellphone, etc. Robbers go for the easy targets.

Company depended on me to keep afloat due to me being lead dev in project. They hired some cheaper devs from overseas and let me go. I was immediately hired by the company who was developing the project (no contractual issues) and the compa

An average driver does not stop to pick up passengers ever n amount of time. A Taxi/Uber driver does. Speak to some taxi drivers and ask them how many times they've been robbed. Its pretty common. Not necessarily at gun point ei

Map data is not the main issue. I'm talking from experience here. Its the sensors and software. Good sensors are über expensive (mind the pun), not easily integrated in vehicle control systems, and currently not awfully precise (for th

They shouldn't worry about self driving cars. The cost and complexity of developing a fleet of them is very high. In too of that, the technology is not quite there. Their biggest risk ae regulation and gun point robberies.

Good points. It used to be customary for European suppliers and manufacturers to borrow from GM. I know Bosch took inspiration from gm to build their efi systems in the 70s and 80s. Systems that were put on cars like the venerable 930.

It's definitely not characteristic of gm to build cats that have deadly issus. It ks, however, characteristic of them to build lower quality cars. That's why their resale value is so bad. You did miss the decades of the 90's

You are right. Those vehicles having issues for Honda and toyota are those who are made in America or have major components made there. They share a lot of suppliers. Which is am underlying issue. No amount of kaizen is gonna fix a broken s

Given their hardware track record I can't assume the software is any better. I've worked with GM sensors and ECMS and they are not exactly great. Lower quality in terms of measurements and readings.

It's sad to see a company with such engineering capacity to continue down the road of making shit vehicles. Their supply chain us also shit and as a result other manufacturers have to buy from the same shit. It's not all GMS fault

Wordpress also keeps php very relevant. Very, very relevant. You can make so much money focusing on WP that it's not even funny. Even with the endless marketing agencies and low cost options available.

Agree with you. The Forrest Mims books are concise and written in a very simple manner without dumbing things down. His collection of the basics which is about four small volumes, will cost you about $50 in total. Money very well spent.
