I’ve had a minor bone with make media over their ownership of the term “makerfaire”. To me, a makerfaire is a generic term that has absolutely nothing to do with the magazine. Our local hackerspace tried to organize a makerfaire, and when

Is the apple marketing through the window of Poe’s law at this point? This page could easily have been a parody, complete with insane price.

I guess I’ll be the dissenter. This all seems really cool to me. There’s actually an amazon owned apartment complex being built almost across the street from my house (in Tempe, Az), and I had been wondering if they’d do stuff like this.

The parent comment is talking about adding motors to their existing blinds. I'm saying: the power consumtion of an LED seems minimal compared to the power consumption of the motor to move them up and down.

The uno format is exactly why I like it. It means I can use screw shields made for the UNO on it. Also lots of other shields that will accept 3.3v logic.

I feel obligated to mention in every one of these threads the wemos D1. I actually have a tough time explaining just how incredible this board is. You can program it in the Arduino environment, meaning if you are doing any hobby electronic

My former company (valuation ~$100M) was not a software company. It was a services company, and most of the business could run off of paper. We were not a convenience store in central Alabama.
