Can somebody explain how to parse the page linked here? This seems like deeplinking Intl the middle of a conversation. Side note: it feels like Twitter specifically has done immeasurable damage to the discourse. Why does the communication

How can you see that this has little to do with the blockchain? This is like a basic application of that technology. Yes of course the government could implement the same thing, but many people already have.

Private keys and addresses are not the same thing. In the current model, if you get my social security number, checking account number, or credit card number, you have it. I have to trust you not to use it for something bad. At least in BT

I know it’s sortof a dirty word, but this to me is one of the things that a blockchain solves. You cannot steal an address on the blockchain. I mean my god, imagine if somebody rewrote bitcoin, except there were no private keys, and the pub

I think you're missing the point I'm making. Sure that team has a lot of experience running one of the biggest shows of all time, but they're toxic to lots of people who watch TV right now. It was a bad PR move, and it makes

I’m more bearish on Netflix’s long term sustainability lately. How many big show cancellations have recently resulted in massive blowback from huge swaths of fans? As much as those might seem like petty complaining from overly enthusiastic

I think this is it more than anything. People wanted to make the web complicated because it made them feel cooler developing it. Some SPAs are cool. Easyeda.com is pretty cool. But also: storing information about a page in the URL is pret

Realistically because a “free” fossil fuel is going to harm efforts to build wind/solar farms. Long term it seems that carbon-resource extraction should be expensive and hard. At least harder than solar/wind.

Which I think is a mistake. The tax code should be accommodating; it should not be adversarial. Many people do not treat bitcoin like gold, they treat it like a paypal account.

To highlight how nuts this could be: I travel to India every year, and I always carry with me a few hundred USD worth of rupees (the local currency). It would be insane for me to try and track the value of the rupees (in USD) for every time

Haha, “changing electronic music” is a BIT of a stretch here, NYT. These are definitely fun toys, but if anything these are just entry points into analog synthesis. Eurorack modules, and the massive DIY community around them are changing m

So youre running an entire Linux environment to turn a relay/solenoid on and off? Now imagine you’re a kid who had the idea to water your garden with a computer. On an arduino, you’d write about 20 lines of code. On a PI...I mean, how
