This technology would be great for amateur filmmakers, especially those who aren't skilled musicians. Imagine a UI with sliders to create the desired mood, tempo, emotion, etc. Maybe the result isn't a John Williams score, but it sounds pr

Not very promising. I'd think that VP8 would need to be decidedly superior to H.264 in order to become a universal standard. Maybe Google should have acquired Red? http://www.engadget.com/2009/04/25/red-blows-away-small-room...

That's not to say Apple doesn't care about their developers at all. They've created nice development tools, easy distribution methods that can lead to handsome profits, and they even hold a pretty neat conference for developers once a year

I think that line clarifies what people in the tech industry seem to be missing in this whole controversy: It's not about developers. It's about users , and creating a great experience for them. Developers getting upset about flash not

Price is relevant in terms of the product value. If you buy a $1000 set of tupperware from Amazon, and they melt in the dishwasher, by all means, give the product a low rating because the item's performance does not justify it's price. Thes

I've been seeing this a lot recently, and I find it really annoying. The reviews are not the place to voice your pricing concerns; they should be used to review product quality. This sort of abuse completely undermines the usefulness of th

I agree that the animations and the aged-paper look are kind of pointless, however I find the page-turn interaction on my Kindle to be far more pleasant to use than scrolling on my iPhone, or even with a mouse for that matter. On the Kindle

The problem with this article (other than the usual SM lack of substance) is that almost all the examples are portfolio sites for artists and designers. How about showing these principles applied to more complex projects - applications, e-

Agree that OSX app installations tend to be less painful than Windows. I would find it useful for setting up a fresh system, rather than hunting down the 10-20 apps I need and installing them one by one. It would also be great for when fri

I'd recommend two other solutions before adding the dashed line. 1. Increase the contrast (could be lightness, saturation, size, or a combination of the those) between the link titles and preview text. Right now they are similar enough that

Well, more like, you have two sheets of paper, the top one has labels with boxes cut out so that you write your answers on the bottom one. when you lift the top sheet off (click submit), you're left with only the raw data.

From a visual standpoint, I think the most interesting change is the shading on the search bar, which makes it look raised on the page. It looks a little awkward to me, I'm sure because almost all form inputs are either flat or sunken into

This type of auction model is really just a brilliant scam. It's 100 people subsidizing the cost of the item for one person. So, one person gets a great deal, 100 people throw their money away, and Wavee brings in profits that may be even

The biggest problem I have with them is that they're prone to accidental presses. Also, there's no feedback of any sort--soft touch-sensitive buttons at least offer some visual feedback.

As mentioned by others in previous threads -- even with the web's shortcomings vs. desktop (or native OS) applications, the web still has major advantages for both the developer and the consumer. for the developer: - distribution is easy.
